Donnieball Taking Shape!

why don't we just nick pick CDT to death before he coaches his first game here so that it will be easy and justifiable to fire him at the mid season break...

it is quite obvious he is not measuring up the first month so it will be easier to let him go....

What's funny, is I'm just trying to preach patience with DT, because I think this U.T. team has some serious holes that will be exploited by other teams. It might take him a few seasons to get things turned around. I think it would be foolish to judge him until maybe the third season.

Her's the deal! Those of you who can't see the difference between Butch Jones and Donnie Tyndall compared to the average coach don't really know anything at all about coaching. It is the pedigree! Knowing how to make winning teams is unique among the greatest coaches of all time. They all worked their way to the top by sleeping three and a half hours a night, living, breathing, and molding their teams!

Too much logic. Does not compute.

Losing 4 starters including big bodies in Maymon and Stokes. No way he would've came close to 20 wins here next year.

One of the reasons he left. Next 2 years were going back to NIT and he would've been run off with no bargaining power. He left because it wasn't getting any better for him to leave.

This is sarcasm....there are holes in every team...I am impressed with his first month and can't wait to see his first product.

My 2 biggest concerns, what happens when we are pressed? Do we have anyone that can break the press and handle the ball over under pressure without turning it over?

Rebounding. Hopefully McKnight keeps his nose clean, stays out of foul trouble, and maybe adds 10-15 pounds by the start of the season. Outside of him Reese would be the next guy in line who's most physically ready to play the 5, that scares me a bit.

That scares me more than a bit.

That was more my point, we don't have 1 guy I would consider a "strong" ball handler IMO.
Guess what? You have a natural point guard who now may well be the starter who was good enough to win a "Rocky Top League" chamnpionship next year. If not the starter, then a 90% chance he is the back up! Makes you shiver, doesn't it? You can continue to ignore this possibility and rail against it at your own peril. You may well be left with egg on your face IMO. It's starting to look that way! That goes for the rest of you who deny reality.

I am no whiz at basketball, but is this team as it stands right now is going to be a difficult challenge to match up against.

With the "system", "Athleticism" and other changes per se will this not be a better team?

I am making some assumptions but can see this team going 9-11 players deep a night. If we are conditioned as mentioned, this will be another factor. Kids have off nights but I can see when one has an off night that 2 or 3 will be in line to step up.

Every time CDT is questioned, about Guards, or team dynamics, the loss of players, coaching staff, he always has an answer. It is quite apparent, he knows what his plan is and is thinking about his next move or recruit beyond anybody's site.

In less than a month, he has done well and accomplished a lot. In doing so, he has changed the composure of the team, the depth, the staff, the system, and the overall dynamics. He has a plan to succeed, he has his philosophy, and his approach.

It has been a take no prisoners approach which appears to be working. In Addition, he has promoted and sold the university in the process very well.

He is the type of employee, you want to have working for you at any job.

Only comparison to Pearl I would offer is that Pearl could not have pulled this off this quickly. The rest of the comparisons should be reserved for the court of play next year.

Without Stokes and McRae, I have my doubts. This new group has to develop chemistry quickly, and at this point, the returners MIGHT have shaken hands with some of them. We don't yet know if CDT's new roster will be anywhere near what that sweet sixteen team was. However, we can hope and be supportive.

Of course, if Pops DOES leave as many are predicting, there may still be one more piece to the puzzle out there. So, there is a slim chance of finding a good point guard or another post. And maybe, Tyndall can make this thing fly.

No we don't and haven't for years

You had a good run, but it's pretty obvious you're trolling at this point.

Poor Martin. He sure got a full blast of that egg. Missed it 3 years running. Probably could have gone sweet 16 three years instead of one.

Reese is not a 5. He is more of a 3/4 hybrid. That being said I think he will thrive in the new system.
