Darius Thompson is gone.

Lots of 'infers' in there.

Well, by virtue of asking for his release, I think it is safe to assume he preferred CCM. The rest is all inferred based on things that have been rumored, but without him publicly stating a reason, and only saying he had a great freshman year, it's difficult to do anything but infer.

What isn't inferred is what he did on the court, and what we actually know about his ability at this point.

I was a nineteen year old recruit once. You wouldn't believe the name calling from the drill sergeants.

No one will understand this comment unless they have been in those shoes. :salute::salute:

It's not the same world today. These 19 year old kids would not make it through :salute::salute:

When I read
"I had an amazing freshman year... And that's why it's hard to say goodbye..... 😔 #thanksforeverything"
The first though that pops into my mind is NOT "oh, Thompson is a cocky SOB who thinks his 2-and-2 stat line is something to shake a stick at."

Common sense, guys.

You are an emotional basketcase. Nobody posted or intimated he is a cocky SOB. Fact is his first year was subpar and he is as butthurt about Martin leaving as you are.

Then what the hell what you trying to say when you posted

2 pts and 2 assists per game while being benched isn't a great freshman year in my book but good luck to him.

Facts are facts. DT did nothing special last season. Nothing mentioned as to his play remotely relates to the kid's tweet. :loco:

I agree.

As for DT's play last season, no nothing spectacular, but it was nice seeing the closest thing to a PG since Bobby Maze.

Give it up dude. Sparty's referring to DT's uninspiring play and lack of production, leadership, and desire from the PG spot. Personally, he didn't seem like a good fit at PG, and he didn't appear to get coached up. All in all, Sparty's on the money.

In 2 years we will be very sad this kid left. He had great vision and with good coaching he will be a great distributor of the basketball and facilitator of UVA's offense. TIFWIW

I said from the start he should come back and could thrive with proper coaching and effort. LT wouldn't allow it.

I think at the end of this season when Darius and AJ hear what Hubbs and Richardson have to say about this staff, they will realize they both made a huge mistake. Only time will tell. At that level sitting out a year is very hard. Hard physically... Hard mentally... Some guys lose "it" and never really get "it" back.

Best of luck to both of them!

With guys like Baulkman, Chiles, Mostella, and Punter coming in, there wasn't much room left for DT to be here. Granted he could have stayed, but probably would have been overshadowed by these guys. DT just didn't produce like he could have and one of these guys can hopefully step in and do so.

Maybe he will benefit from a change of conference/style of play. I'm interested to see how he does against teams like Duke, NC, and Syracuse. He's always welcome back though if Virginia needs a whoopin again. :acute:

Does it matter? I'm sure he's a good young man, and he's no longer a Vol. Not being rude as we wish him the best, but I prefer to root for the Tennessee Vols, so I'll focus my attention on that.

Later on Darius. Next.

He never was a Vol, he was a poser! And the same goes for the other release e's .

We got a couple "posers" coming in for us this season. Bunch of flip-floppers that can't pledge allegiance to one school. But I'll still cheer for McKnight, Chiles, and Carmichael anyway IMO.
