So you're saying nobody that uses racial terms, makes racially derogatory jokes or racial slights should hold office?
I think a public official, in a restaurant, loudly calling the President of the United States the worst racial slur in our society, and then at a civic meeting admitting that and saying he thinks the slur is accurate, needs to go.
I am stunned anyone is arguing to the contrary.

I've seen uncle Tom used to describe them and if I were African American that would insult me even more.

Uncle Tom gets thrown out by haters when referring to blacks who are successful.
Take it from a black guy, I'd much rather be called an Uncle Tom than the n-word.
One term suggests you think I've succeeded without "remembering where I came from", the other suggests that no matter how successful I become, I'll still be viewed as inferior, despite evidence to the contrary.
