Even More Obamacare Follies

According to fox news 4 failed states on Obamacare website exchanges have already cost "taxpayers" $474 MILLION dollars & it's projected to end up costing "taxpayers" as much as $4.9 BILLION. Nearly half a Billion dollars in federal money has been spent developing four state Obamacare exchanges that are now in "shambles". States as Mass., Oregon, Nevada & Maryland embraced ObamaCare & each have under performed. They now face months of uncertainty as they rush to rebuild their systems or transition to the federal exchange. Oh btw, Oregon has ZERO people that have signed up. Taxpayer dollars at work here folks thanks to the waste of all this BS & money from the gubmint getting involved w/health care which should never have happened.

When Obama picked those "brainless" people in charge to head up this ACA they decided to overhaul the system in the most inefficient & the most expensive way possible. When President Obama brags about the 8 million "enrollees", which is questionable too, of whom 65% have actually paid for their plans, it's important to keep in mind just how much those enrollees cost.

The Obama Administration was dumb to reform the health insurance system and let the insurance providers write the law, or be heavily involved in writing it. Common sense says they will do whatever they can to maximize their profits.

Under Obamacare, People Must Be Broken of Their Preference for Choice - Hit & Run : Reason.com

Merz is basically stating openly what the Obama administration won’t, which is that Obamacare is intentionally designed to narrow consumer choice and plan design within the health insurance market. The Obama administration doesn't want to say this because it is bad politics generally, and also because President Obama specifically and repeatedly promised that, under the law, people would be able to keep their choice of health plans and doctors, not that they would be broken of their preference for medical choice. But the law’s authors and administrators have a pretty good idea of what kind of health insurance they want you to have, and that’s the kind of insurance that you’re going to get.

I see and hear Obamacare getting hammered on all fronts , but for me it's been great . I got laid off last summer and went back to school , so if not for Obamacare I wouldn't have any insurance . Honestly , it's the best insurance I have ever had , and it's the cheapest I have ever had . People want to make a big deal about premiums going up , but that was happening long before Obamacare was even around . Insurance companies are raising their rates , businesses are making their employees pay a bigger percentage because they are greedy . They know they have an excuse that a lot of people will buy " we raised your rates because of Obamacare"

The kid is in school, give him a break.

I rather my tax dollars go to school tuition and help a kid get a good start in life than supporting a kid that is sitting on his arse with no intentions of trying to better his/her life.

If not for government assisted tuition we would not need near as many colleges. I would think it is safe to say most of the posters on vn that have graduated or presently in college had some type of assistance. That is one government program I have no problem with.

I appauld Gov Haslam for making it possible for all TN kids be able to go to a community college.

I don't mind tax dollars going towards education as long as there's 100% accountability. Obamacare is something else.

I guess I'm the sucker. I worked two jobs, paid my own way through, had no social life for 4 years, and did it without healthcare.

As a reward, I get to pay for other people's healthcare while having to make the choice of paying more for my existing coverage or paying the same for less coverage. Coverage I worked hard for and made the choice to get myself.

I wish people would realize that every time somebody gets a government benefit there is someone else paying for it.

Also, when losing employer health insurance COBRA is an option. Plus, I always purchased insurance plans offered at college. Kid's story is heatfelt but other options did/do exist.

According to an article at Townhall.com  Some consumers who bought insurance under Obama's health care law are experiencing buyer's remorse after realizing that their longtime doctors aren't accepting the "new plans". Before the law took effect, experts warned that narrow networks could have an impact on patients' access to care, especially in cheaper plans. Now, consumers are finding their "access" limited across all price ranges - sometimes even after they were told "their plan" would include their current doctor.

Edited to reflect what some were also told.
