'14 JUCO SG Devon Baulkman

Good pickup. I hope this means no Chiles. Just Owens and maybe Carmichael and be done. I would rather have Punter/ Mostella and a lil Baulkman at pg over Chiles. If we are gonna have a combo not a true pg I want size and athleticism not an undersized gunner.

He was a first team All-State Georgia player out of High School in 2010-2011 average 21 ppg and 8 rebounds. If 247 was rating him I feel he would be rated as high as Jordan Cornish.

Be prepared to have this statement challenged. Get the Popcorn ready.

I would like to add Chiles. Which I think you could possibly see that happening

You can take both even with Pops and Reese in the fold.

I know we can still take Chiles. I just don't think we should. He is a combo that does what the others do. Just not as efficiently and with less size and athleticism. He never takes less than 10 shots in a game. If we are running a combo out at pg put Mostella out there and try to get him to play like Westbrook. Same with Punter.

Well Mostella hasn't passed through the clearinghouse yet. I think he will make it at least everyone is opptimistic but Baulkman helps if he doesn't make it. And he can probably play some PG.

Don't believe everything you hear from the clearing house. They once told me I had already won $1M. It was a lie!

How does he have time to play with all that running back and forth to the locker room?

Balkman 'I'm a leader. I'm more comfortable as a 2 but I can play the one.'

Per Basillo interview.

So you're telling me the 'experts' missed this one?

Makes me feel unsafe on here now. :gone:

We are going 10 deep as DT tries to do and are going to get after some teams.

Fun is on the way. Anybody else plan on seeing more games in person the next couple of years?
The time to be entertained watching a Tuesday night UT game is coming. Soon.

It looks like the Vols are going to be running A LOT with all these signees. Not a lot of bigs but stocking up on the long athletic wings...

The team that Baulkman scored 48 on is the same team that former Pearl assistant Steve Forbes (currently an assistant at Wichita State) used to coach (Northwest Florida State). Also former Tennessee signee and current Louisville player Chris Jones was on that team.

I.E. The team he went Kobe on was a very good JUCO team.

Running 10 at teams and pressing after made baskets will pay dividends at the end of games from a mental and physical standpoint. Prolly another reason why his team's close teams out in tight games.

Spartaca is right. Bruce Pearl's teams use to do the same think at the end of games and I loved it. The game would be tight going into the final 5 mins but the opponent was so worn down the Vols would pull away. Love that style of play. :salute:

Like McKnight yesterday, Balkman is committing without even taking a visit, and I"m not sure that he's going to make one before he arrives for summer school. Just really excited to have it out of the way and settled. Very engaging young man, said he was hoping to follow Tyndall and asst. Chris Shumate (his primary recruiter) to Tennessee from the start. He added that he would have felt the same way if they'd gone to a smaller school and that he wasn't excited about rejoining the staff just because he was now going to be playing in the SEC.

Really engaging young man that's excited about his opportunity.

He had several SEC schools try to come in on him the last week few week, including Arkansas and Ole Miss.
