He averages 10 rebound per 40 minutes and 2.5 blocks, given the fact we have nobody on the roster better he would at worst provide depth for 1 season.

You also have to remember the competition being played. He was almost always the biggest guy on the floor and his rebounding/shot blocking was still pretty average. There's a reason he was only playing 20 minutes a game down here.

He was getting bumped out of his starting role by seasons end fwiw

If we have to rely on him to hold down the middle this year, we're in for a long season.

Have you looked at our current roster? We are in desperate need of any help, ESPECIALLY in the post from guys physically ready to step in and play.

I'm not saying he's gonna be all-sec, but as of now we have nobody that can play center.

He does bring a nice body in the post. He's also athletic for his size. He could give us 8-10 minutes a night and not kill us.

I'm probably being a little negative on the guy as well. He's got quite a bit of potential but never lived up to it which led to a lot of frustrating games as an Eagle. :)

Hope he can stay out of trouble wherever he goes.

Right now Pops and McGhee are our only center options so this guy would be welcomed for depth purposes next season.

Baggage. Hmmm. Of all the differences we will probably see between DT and CM, I have a feeling this will be the one that will be the most striking. "Baggage" type players are welcome back in the program.

After a few years of 8-12 win seasons, DT might turn it around such that the on-court records of the two coaches could become similar, but the police record will probably be very different.

Stahp menstruating in all the threads pls

Dont understand why everyone is down on picking up this kid. If he can defend the paint and rebound then he will be exactly what we need. Sounds like Coach T's offense is predicated on big men setting screens and rolling. No more back it down and get double teamed. If he can screen and roll and catch an oop that will be enough if he's able to rebound on the other end.

I don't see him getting in any trouble since he is a one year player that has already been through four years at another school. He certainly is more mature now and understands what is expected of him on a team. He has graduated college so he will be in some kind of graduate school courses. I don't see this as a losing situation just a guy that can help fill a void for one season.

imo, he is almost identical to Fields and I thought Fields was very serviceable in his one year here. For this season only, I love the idea of taking one or two grad transfers...gives us experienced players for this coming season and then will relinquish scholarships for the next year.

Yup, their numbers are pretty similar.

Ok the gesture in the photo is obviously for an Eagle. Florida Gulf Coast Eagles. Evidently he did something good and wanted to show his school pride.

Suarez, Owens, McKnight, and Cofer? Makes sense.

I think 3 of the 4 are pretty likely, not sure how much interest they have in McKnight but common sense would tell me there's gotta be a lot right? Lol

I get the impression Suarez, Cofer and Owens will be Vols taking the number to 11 scholarship players and the possibility looming that Thompson could return making the number 12.

I've been saying that we should consider going into next year with just 12 scholarship players, so Tyndall would have an extra spot to work with in the 2015 class. But if we have those 12 you just mentioned, I think we still need to go after a 5 and fill out our roster.

Unless that 5 is a senior like McKnight, we'd only have 2 scholarship spots for the 2015 class (Richardson and Pops). That'd be a shame IMO, the way CDT is recruiting.

With Ellis out and if we landed all those plus got Thompson back, would there be one open scholarship? And any chance that would go to Carmichael or keep it for next year or just in case another grad transfer opens up his summer?

I've heard Carmichael might go prep for a year if Tennessee doesn't take him this year, that could depend on who else offers, but it's a possibility.

I really don't think Tyndall wants to have McGhee, Cofer, Owens and Carmichael all as freshman that play the same spot on the roster. You're setting up disappointment for at least 1 or 2 of those guys and pretty much guaranteeing transfers at some point.
