Time will tell. His track record at Morehead State and USM recruiting tells me he will, but maybe he adjusts.
There's multiple top 150 recruits still available, we will see how many he lands.
With the immediate PT available you would have to think this is an attractive option.
From espy:
"Thompson's father, Lonnie Thompson, said that "I really don't we ow" the chances of his son choosing to return.
"As of the first of last week, he was set on staying," said Lonnie Thompson, the coach at NAIA program Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee. "Then at the end of the week, he just felt like it may be time to move on. I guess with the new coaching staff coming in, the new team, he didn't feel like he wanted to stay anymore."
Thompson, a 6-foot-5 guard from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, started 10 games and averaged 2.6 points, 2.4 assists and 2.0 rebounds per game as a freshman this past season. He led the Volunteers with 1.0 steals per game and was second on the team in assists.
Davis, a 6-foot-9 guard/forward from Buford, Georgia, averaged 1.3 points, 1.6 rebounds and 9.4 minutes per game as a freshman. Davis is the son of former NBA forward Antonio Davis."
Recruiting at southern miss and Morehead state is entirely different than at Tennessee.....judging by his teams performances there was good enough....whether he can take the step up will be shown in next yrs class.
I think 2 would be considered a nice get, fair?
Well, there's multiple top 150 recruits in the country available as you said. There's 7...... In the entire freaking country there's 7 players and every team with an open scholarship is recruiting them. Half of those 7 are living in the pacific time zone. Only two are from the South and he's recruiting both of them. And he's been here like 2 weeks.
Do I think two would be nice to land 2 top 150 players? Yeah. It would be borderline miraculous. Cuonzo had 3 years to recruit this class and only had two top 150 players in a class he knew he'd have at least 4 spots and likely 6 spots available.
But you were good with that though, right?
My point was the player he recruited, it was mostly JUCOs, prep schools, community college and transfers. A common trend with these types of kids are that they're thankful for another opportunity and you don't have to wine & dine em' and kiss their behinds a bit.
When you step into recruiting a guy like say Robert Hubbs, who has Coach K begging him to come to Duke and telling him about how he's the next Dwayne Wade, and rolling out all the stops to make him feel wanted and pampered. You better be doing the same, or winning a hell of a lot of games and putting guy after guy into the league.

Yes and our coach states to be successful we have to recruit different then he did at usm and try to get top 100 high school players....he didn't live on jucos when he was thought of as a good recruiter at lsu.
He also said that he wanted and needed all 4 signees
He also said that he thought all of the returning players would be back
He also said he wouldn't recruit thugs
You sensing a pattern here, or do I need to spell it out for you? It's called coach speak.
What the heck does his time as an assistant matter, Cuonzo Martin landed multiple NBA players as an assistant, never saw you mention that once.

I do know what coach speak is it goes like this....I love Tennessee and this is where I want to be and then leaving for a new job. Actions speak louder than words and as of right now about all of CDT offers have been to top 100 players....whether he can sign them no one knows. He also said that he wanted and needed all 4 signees

According to 247 there's 10 top 150 recruits available, does that not fall under the definition of multiple? And if you go back about 2 weeks there was probably double that, so not sure of your point.
Martin landed a top 150 recruit in his very first class if you wanna compare the 2 situations. So Tyndall should at least do that, right?

Nobody said let your players run the program, but your head is up your a&& if you think what's taking place is normal.
By my count there's 8 on 247. 7 on Rivals. And only 2-3 from the region.
I don't think there was double that number because some of these kids have been released from their LOI. Doesn't matter. I don't judge Tyndall on this recruiting class, just as I didn't Martin on his first class.
Anyways, you think he's supposed to land 2 of those 7 or 8 top 150 when Cuonzo could only land 2 of of the top 150 when he had the entire 150 to recruit? And one of those was a Vol legacy that had been a Vol fan from birth.
