I am an old white guy I guess by your standard, and you will be an old something someday, unless you die young. I assume that since we old (64 and counting) white guys don't acknowledge that thugs are black, then we don't live in the 21st Century. Is that your position? Because if it is, you are a racist by saying that thugs are black.

I'll be damned if I will change my use of a word based on what somebody decides that it now means to them. There is a dictionary that define words, not me, and not some anonymous group of people without the background and education necessary to put out a dictionary.

The racist favorite stat. Per capita. It ignores who actual does the most crime.

For some it is the new N word. Thats why DT should be media savvy enough to not say it.

But if you took a new job making a million dollars a year and one of your primary tasks was selling something to African American families, would you be smart enough to avoid using a word that you knew might offend a few of your potential customers?

On the outrage scale from 1 to 10, this is a 1. It's clearly not a big deal; I don't think anyone here (except maybe the OP?) is arguing that the word "thug" is actually racist. It's only interesting from a PR standpoint.

Racists do love to use per capita to cloud who actually commits most crime in the US. I don't know him. He may not be, but people who allude to Black people being more likely to commit crimes based on per capita convictions are most of the time. For one convictions don't show who committed the crimes accurately. Per capita also doesn't tell raw numbers about who actually is doing what. That is why they say per capita this and that. They never point out that per capita rich Black people commit crimes at the same rate as rich White people. Or the fact poor Whites commit crimes the same rates as poor Black. They ignore things like income and use it as some justification of treating Black people like criminals or looking down on them.

We're not saying blacks are thugs. You're asserting that claim as you say thug is a racist term for black. You're saying that its impossible for blacks to be racist. You're also saying only whites can be racist.

Get out of the 70's Jesse. There's a reason why 60% of blacks think race is a problem opposed to 40% of whites.

When you're pointing one finger at someone else, you have three pointing back at you.

The only reason racism continues to exist is because Jesse and Al need an income. Jesse's son actually got booted off the senate for corruption. So you can see how seriously Jesse cares about his people.

Jesse and Al are worthless, but you're kidding yourself. Racism would exist whether anybody knew who they were or not. As long as there are ignorant people, there will be people that irrationally draw conclusions based on race. It's just a fact of life.

I literally said none of this. I said some use it as a racist term for the N word. I don't think everyone does and I definitely didn't think Tyndall meant it like that. I said earlier of course Black people can be racist. people are people. Any race can be racists. I have travelled and I know know no matter what state or country there are ignorant people.

JJ and AS have been irrelevant for 15 years at least. I hope that part was hyperbole. You can't really think the only reason racism exits is because of two middle aged men with no power or influence. So you don't think there are any racists? Or you think the people whose whole families brought them up racist is because of JJ and AS? What about racist in other countries? Is that because of JJ and AS?

Those two hold a lot more power than one thinks. Blacks still listen to them, in fact Mr. Whitlock said that during the Imus ordeal.
Other countries have their cronies like we have ours.

This is a hyperbole, but they raised that mentality in the 70's and it got passed down obviously.
