Unofficial Coaching Search Thread

Tennessee fans are retarded. Not all of us, but enough to make me ashamed of the fanbase and tired of coming to this forum.

If we had all supported Cuonzo and our basketball program through good times and bad he would still be our coach. We would have a much brighter future than we do as of now. Couch Cuonzo was a great coach and he showed it by overcoming adversity (and the NCAA selection committee) by getting to the NCAA tournament. He then one 3 games against NCAA tournament caliber teams and got UT to the sweet sixteen. He then nearly pulled off an upset of 2 seed Michigan. He drew up a play for our best player to go for a 2 pointer in the post. A play that worked for this team all season. It would have put us in a great position to go on to the Elite 8.

That player is now leaving for the NBA and our coach is going to CAL because he didn't have Tennessee fan's full support. I wish him the best of luck and don't blame him one bit for leaving. CAL's fanbase will be much more welcoming and he joins an equal if not more storied basketball program there.

This statement deserves a special shout out to those who are only aware of the Bruce Pearl era of Tennessee basketball. Those fans believe we are entitled to the NCAA tournament, and that it is an easy accomplishment to get there. It is not easy and you should have been satisfied when Cuonzo finally got UT into the tournament after 3 top 5 SEC finishes.

Those fans saying they are glad Cunozo is gone annoy the **** out of me. Swallow your pride and admit you are wrong. It was so annoying during the NCAA tournament listening to you say, well maybe if he wins one more game he will deserve to be our headcoach. He provided us with an amazing season and you should be grateful for his 3 years of service.

He is better off with CAL; we are not better off without him.

Good list. I wish Hart would go ahead and hire White and get this over with. He is a winner.

Hart needs to make a run at Smart and Marshall first, even though it isn't going to happen. But the more I hear about White, the more I like him - even in spite of the Dooley connection. Honestly I think I'd rather have him than Howland or Mack.

It must be uncomfortable to have your head so far up Cuonzo's arse!:finger3:

Smart would be a home run and Marshall would be huge upgrade. Off of resume alone, Howland destroys either one. Mack isn't too shabby himself.

Howland is the best realistic option IMO. The guy can recruit, develop players, and coach in-game. White could be a great coach down the road, but hiring him is too risky when Howland is available.

Gonna be most likely(IMO) Howland,Smith or White. At least two of the three are campaigning to come to UT. It's nice to be wanted

What Dooley connection? I believe Dooley hired his predecessor at LT. Hence White's accomplishment of turning around the program

Why don't we see how he does at Cal before you start demanding apologies. If he ever makes it out of the first weekend of the tourney there I will gladly apologize.

According to my sources (Twitter), Shaka, Marshall Pitino Jr and Miles are out. That leaves Howland, Tyndall and M. White. About like many expected.

Hear anything about Tubby Smith? It's been said he's been in touch about being interested in the job.

Lets give this guy a call. Great motivator. Really knows the game.

Right. If we struggle to even be an NIT bubble team next year I'm sure many will scream "I TOLD YOU SO". But we are looking at mediocrity next year even with Cuonzo, mostly due to Cuonzo.

I think he was a nice guy and inherited a tough to win situation. But bottomline is we shouldn't have too much trouble finding no worse than the equivalent and probably better.

Not sure how I feel about a guy who took Kevin love, Westbrook, luc Richard, and several top end euro guys but didn't win a title.

But I love the idea of the guy who recruited that team.
