Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XI

Obviously Vol Football is the favorite, but idk why people can't like other sports. Ribs are my favorite food, I still like hamburgers.

I love soccer, it paid for this fancy little piece of paper I call a degree. Ive never understood why some grown men see liking it as a disease that takes away your manhood.

It's a great sport and a lot like baseball, is fun to watch if you can appreciate the little details.

All that said football is way more fun to watch and play. I just wish I'd gotten better football offers outta high school.

Now you've gone and done it. Got ribs on my brain now. Mmmmmm

Congrats on the degree though, for real. Even if you had to betray your patriotism to get it.

Haha! Actually had ribs from a new place today.. They were really pretty good, sides sucked though.

Dickey's BBQ. It just opened up here in JC.

I thought I'd make another chart to compare Team 117 against Team 118. The chart shows players we lost from Team 117 and who we replaced them with for Team 118.

Team 117
Team 118
QB: None
*Ferguson
RB: Neal, Smith
Hurd, Scott, Paulk, *Pickett
WR: Harris, **Howard
Malone, Pearson, Wharton
TE: None
Wolf, Helm
OL: James, Richardson, Stone, Fulton, Bullard
Coleman, Blair, Raulerson, *Jackson
DT: Hood, McCullers, Walls
Williams, Sawyers, Robertson, Mosley, Mixon
DE: Miller, Smith
Hendrix, Barnett, Henderson, *Maggitt, Johnson
LB: Sapp, Brewer, Probst, Harris
Bates, Bryant, Creamer, Weatherd, Berry
CB: Toney
Payne, Moseley, Gaulden, Berry
S: Moore
Kelly, McDowell
SP: Palardy
Medley

*Redshirted
**Maybe

I know it's impossible to compare graduating seniors with incoming freshman but it looks like we upgraded talent exponentially at every position except maybe OL. If these kids can come in and play beyond their years we may be able to overachieve this year.

Good analysis Golfer. I think the team this year definitely has the talent to over achieve. I'm not going to go into the year with that as my base level expectation though. We have a tough schedule and will be relying on too many freshman. 6 wins will be enough for me.

I actually came to believe last year's team was one of the worst we've had in this era. With a worse coach we easily could have lost 8 or 9 games with our talent and depth issues. Butch did a great job making us competitive, which bodes well for the future.

I played baseball and football from pee wee through high school. I have been coaching both for years in youth leagues. With all that being said football>>>>>>> baseball and any other sport. Not even close.

I don't know, Dooleys first year team was atrocious. We had average to NFL-level talent at a good number of positions last year. Drastically changing scheme that all our talent was used to is what killed us.

Good post. I laugh every time I see someone with a crazy vendetta against soccer. It's like soccer punched their grandma in the face or something. Who hates any sport that bad that the mere mention of it raises their body temp 5 degrees?

Soccer for kids through high school is ok. Pro soccer = euro trash IMO and I have a bunch of buddies that played in the minors in Europe and Washington state

My grandmother would kick soccer's ass or barely graze it so it would have to have a stretcher to be removed from the field.

Football and baseball: Equal #1. I played baseball in college. Loved football in HS.

Basketball: #3

Soccer: # zippo

I would rather watch golf on TV than the last two. Love that game.
