I'm not much on father son coaching. I mean you have the Dooley debacle. Then go back all the way to dr Naismith. His poor son was a horrible player and coached in the MBA Milwaukee basketball league and never won a game. I just don't know about pinto jr. Haven't followed him

Respectfully this is driving us all crazy. But you have to admire all the love for the Vols. Everyone wants nothing but the best for our players and fans. Its better than a fan base who just don't give a damn.

I know it doesn't make any sense, but I'm not sure I want another Louisiana Tech coach

The more research I do the higher I am on White. I think he would be a great hire and with his style of ball bring a lot of excitement to TBA.

Pitino Jr. wont be cheap IMO, so that's good news at least. Tyndall on the flip side would be, but who knows. Maybe Hart tries to get PJR for cheap, and if he can't goes with Tyndall.

BTO- I saw that Pitino makes 1.2 at Minnesota. I would think an offer of 1.8 and a move south would get him here. Easier conference, closer to family. Just makes sense to me.

I don't get why people give White/Tyndall crap for not making NCAAs, but want Pitino despite lack of HC experience and conference record of .500, including abysmal late-season swoon this year.

Very tough conference. Not sure how much talent they had in the front court this year.

He won at FIU and was 2 points away from NCAAT. They went 15-16 this year. His résumé may be short, but it isn't bad. He has coached at a big school unlike the other two.

I like White's resume better than Pitinio Jr. Would be a much better value hire as well. Your actually paying for his resume and not so much his name. Give me White and save the 500-600 grand for his assistants/SEC recruiters. I would also imagine the buyout for Jr would be much higher. JMO

Plus we would get some good publicity with Pitino. You know his dad will be at TBA when he can. Hard did say he wanted a up and coming coach, and Pitino's team did win the NIT championship this year.

I think $1.8m is about right, but heck that's what you were gonna pay Zo. What is on PJRs resume that's better than Zo? Honest question.

He's coached at a "big" school for one year, and the term "big" is really debatable considering they've been thoroughly forgettable since 1997. Also, they went to the NCAA the year before he took the job.

I think that will be the issue here. IMO Hart has to either find the next up and comer(White) at around a million or he has to pony up the cash to go all in 2.5-3 million for Shaka or Marshall. I don't think we will see a lateral move to another coach right at what Zo was going to get.

His resume is no better nor worse than Zo's when we hired him. I would max out at 1.75 for Pitino Jr.

I wonder if he would be the basketball version of Derek Dooley if UT hired him? Good pedigree but that's about it.

Tennessee would have to outwardly try to find a coach that out of place, but I can't say I'd be happy about this hire.

I've got a bad feeling also,I can't help but think about Buzz Peterson in this situation.

On paper, it wasn't a bad hire. Buzz was 105-50 in five years at two schools. Hiring basketball coaches is a bit of a crapshoot, especially if you eschew how well they fit in with program philosophies and if the players are willing to buy in. If Hart pays attention to both of those, it'll be hard to screw up.

He never lost to MTSU or Mercer in the NIT. That's it. But, his hire would generate a buzz, and he does have a personality.

I can understand the attraction of Pitino, but man idk. He hasn't made the dance, probably should've with the team he had last year. On top of that though, he hasn't done anything recruiting, he makes Zo look like Calipari.
