Masters degree, thank you. And, as I said in the idiotic thread you started, you're going to talk down to me and my education with the crap you've typed?

We should say, hey coach you don't have to win..we support you no matter what.

In a nutshell: the above is the attitude prevalent amongst the leadership at the University of Tennessee.

Pay your money and keep your mouth shut, especially after we blame you for decisions we make.

"In one man's opinion, I don't think Cuonzo's decision was driven by dollars or was driven by necessarily number of years. I don't know. It was a tough year. I don't want to speak for Cuonzo. It was a tough year for Cuonzo and Roberta. There were a lot of distractions, you know what they were, you reported on them. Pretty tough for those young men and I talked to them and they have unsolicited, as the end of the year was progressing, made comments about how tough that was. It was a tough situation."

I agree. So do the players. So does the national media.

He was paid over 1 million dollars a year and couldn't take fan criticism....boohoo

You don't know anymore than me. Are you saying Cuonzo received death threats?

No, I don't. But, again, this fanbase has a history of sending death threats to a 20 year old player, so I wouldn't put it past them to do it to a 40 year old coach.

Smart move by coach Martin. Take a lateral move after a "high profile" season and avoid next year's tough season and buy himself and his family at least three years more of some serious cash flow. Notbhard to see he was not going to get a vote of confidence here when the season got tough. Justified or not.

Also, I really don't see this as bad deal for UT. Yes, we might do worse, but I don't see that being likely. Were losing a good man/family, but that's not what $1M+ pays for. If we got a fourth season slow start with him this year, it was going to get real ugly on the court, then w fans. At the end of the day, this is probably a win win for both parties.

If UT is serious about becoming a first tier program, then this is where they need to step up w a coach capable of getting it there. A coach confident enough to win titles will not be afraid of an online petition or fanbase that demands winning. He'll embrace it and lead it in the same fashion Butch and Bruce have/did.

Dave, show the right guy the $$$ and let's do this!

Fans do that at a lot of major schools. It happened last year to the kicker at Bama, it happened to Auburn's kicker when I was there (they even killed his dog), my point is that it's more common than you think.

:eek:lol:What about the 30,000 fans that sigh the petition to get him out of here, deep down that had to hurt so if you were him what would you do, you would stick it to TENNESSEE the first chance you would get and he did, I cant blame him, the fan base ripped him from day 1, so he got the last laugh.:eek:lol:

I went back and looked at his recruiting for the past 4 yrs.
I think the last laugh may be on California.

Just because it's common doesn't mean it's right. And I'm not associated or lumped in with those idiots. But when this is the face that people see when they hear "Vol fan", I don't like it, and stand up for what is good. Do you really want to accept being the same as Auburn and Bama fans in this regard? As long as we win, right?

All this back-and-forth really is avoiding the main truth. Absolutely he was a very good man but he really struggled as a coach for the University Tennessee. I'm not sure how someone could look past that and not realize that it's true. Certainly having Coach Bruce Pearl before him would make it hard we all knew that. CCM had to have known that. And when you take that job you better be understanding that you better win a large percentage of your games and get to the tournament. There's no way you can take that team 2 years to the NIT then struggle your third-year to get into the NCAA and not expect major pushback. I guessed that's what surprises me the most people seem to be surprised that people would not accept that level of mediocrity.

If Dave hart is so above the fray and so in love w CCM then where was he when all the "distractions" were going on??! He was hiding out!!! If he was so great a supporter why didnt he step up and say " you're our man cuonzo! The university stands by you." He did not do this. Rather he sat back and watched . Shame on you Dave . Pointing the finger?? 4 more back at you !!!

Maybe he just didn't want Hart as a boss anymore. He does look like he just stepped out of a mortuary. Kind of creepy to look at.

Criticism is one thing, but you seem to forget this genius fanbase is the same one that sent death threats to a 20 year old Crompton. Lord knows what Martin had to endure. But, that's ok, because the coaches and players deserve that stuff just for pissing you off.

I never said I was pissed off so please don't put words in my mouth! Sure every fan base has "nuts" and the "nuts" should be dealt with. My point is if you can't take the heat then get out of the kitchen! When your team doesn't play up to their potential, as they did most of the year then ANY FAN BASE is going to criticize so get over yourself!
