TN fans blindsided but not Hart.

The likelihood of Tennessee making a legitimate grand slam hire (which, if we're using the term correctly here, would be Brad Stevens with Gregg Marshall on the fringe) is about the same as the likelihood of me deciding to cut off a finger tonight. I'm not saying it can't happen after enough alcohol, but...

That's it! Get Brad Stevens drunk!

Hart knew he was looking for a job, but since Cal didn't call and Martin didn't tell him, he didn't know.

Hey, it happens. I see people rise in the business world all the time by doing things the bull**** way. Watching out for #1 sometimes means that's what happens. Just don't preach your bull**** in the meantime about man, character, etc.

I have one more wishful thinking hire. Jay wright from Villanova. I would like to see him matched up with calipari Donavan and frank Martin.

Really? A GRAND SLAM! What universe are u living in? Who in their right mind wants to come to UT and work for a bunch of spoiled ignorant fans who cry FOUL when their team loses a ballgame? Oh no you all were worse than KY fans. You pushed out a great coach and now you think you will get better or even deserve better? Really? Does UT even have the money to pay for your "GRAND SLAM" coach? Ha What fans were blindsided? I sure wasn't and I supported Martin from day one. Here we go dreaming again about all these famous coaches or NBA players just dying to come and coach at UT! DREAM ON!

I'm sorry but Cuonzo is not the great coach and great character guy that everyone thinks he is. He had the AD tell the kids that busted their butt for him the last couple of years that he was leaving. Not him because of that great character he had to go to Cali. It took the junk of the petition to get this team playing. I hate he is gone because I backed him through this but the way he left is not professional in any way.

I really think Hart has been ahead of this for some time. I think he's had things in the works for a while now. It may not be the big name hire because I think Cheeks will have his hands in it and tie Hart's hands to some extent. I think it will be a solid hire though.

I hope cheeks washes the boogers off before getting his hands in it

Agree, but hiring him at his point would be a bad hire imo

How many times did we hear, Tennessee isn't the player to learn on the job in reference to Zo?

Oh no I certainly agree we should be hiring a big name big get big money guy. But I look at it this way. We took a shot on butch bc of his effort and relentlessness. If we take a shot at anyone I would want it to be wade and not someone else.

Does anyone think that money cannot talk? The fan base seems as though it makes no difference who is hire it is not going to satisfy the mass. We do have a fan base that is very, let's say aggressive.

Several points. We have an opportunity or Dave Hart does to bring in a Coach who can make it happen by making a commitment to Vol Athletics and hiring a decent coach.

The Pearl rumbles are gone. Check. He is out of town.

CBJ headed into his 2nd year. Check

CHW has got a solid class inbound.

CDS seems to be moving the Baseball Tm in the right direction.

The Weakleys are always going to put a competitive team out on the field

Swimming alone with Track and Field may need some work.

With this hire, We can be a prominent and dominate athletic force in the SEC with the right hire. Can't remember the last time that happen if ever at Tennessee.

I guess what I am saying is Money talks, make a commitment to hire a star coach with a multi year contract, with a decent buyout to lure him here.

Will Hart make the commitment to do so.

Martin's leaving as great of a guy that he was or maybe a blessing. I was thinking that we were going about the same every year in the SEC. Not moving up but not dropping.

Make this hire count and let's put it to bed, Pearl, Martin, and Vol Athletics.

I cant believe they let one of the top coaches in the nation (Pearl - I always thought Martin was in over his head) leave town for a coach that turns and jumps ship. He knew he would have no team next year so he runs away and leaves his mess for someone else to clean up.

"In one man's opinion, I don't think Cuonzo's decision was driven by dollars or was driven by necessarily number of years. I don't know. It was a tough year. I don't want to speak for Cuonzo. It was a tough year for Cuonzo and Roberta. There were a lot of distractions, you know what they were, you reported on them. Pretty tough for those young men and I talked to them and they have unsolicited, as the end of the year was progressing, made comments about how tough that was. It was a tough situation."

It wouldn't go over well at first , that's for sure. I think he is going to eventually be a successful coach at a BCS school. Why not UT?

Witch Doctor say goodbye Cuonzo..this is probably the best for both. Harts got this, hes going to get the best guy available. Problem is how late in the season a coach leaves. I think in the long run Martin takes a black eye also as he handled it just as badly(didnt show he was above it). Cant say Im too distraught.
Bones never lie.

What was Hart supposed to do, fire him before they play in the tournament?

And they wouldn't have hired Pearl anyway so get over it.
