Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XI

It is too funny to see people make a judgement of who is going to start and who is going to sit the bench based off of one scrimmage. Not one of them saw the month's worth of practices that the coaches oversaw or the film that the coaches have watched in determining who plays and who backs up the others.

There the consideration of how well you do when live. Dobbs seems to be a gamer...note I have been a Ferg guy.

Some guys are gamers Tux. Those practice warriors who don't show up in games don't get W's. all I can go on is what I see with my own two eyes. And that is that Worley is serviceable enough, and Dobbs has the ability to hit some big throws and is a pretty damn good runner. Today was Gameday atmosphere at Neyland, and Dobbs shined.

Neyland was beautiful today. Dobbs looked better than expected but got better pass pro than ferg when he dropped back. Fergs velocity looked miles better than worley throwing to the flats and screens. it got there fast enough for the receiver to do something. ferg completed a 3rd and 17 that was impressive. Hurd didnt electrify but has me confident rather than worried about 3rd and 2's. malone will be all sec if not all american

Overrated.

Nobody knows what the coaches put in defensive call-wise in the various situations to see how the OL reacted or how the QB will react. Thats what scrimmages are used to help teach the kids. Reading too much into them one way or another is a mistake. Remember how Bray had the horrible spring game 3 years ago? So many thought that he would never see the field after that.

Bray also never had a serious threat behind him to take his spot

Agreed, i think they threw the kitchen sink at ferg today to see how hed respond. Dobbs looked to be facing more base. saw a couple dt stunts and swafford blitz on ferg

Dobbs had himself a hell of a day. I hope we can finally put this "he has no arm strength" thing to bed. It never was a very good argument.

Worley also looked pretty good, much better in fact, which is why I'm still penciling him in as the starter against Utah State.

Interesting. I still think they want Ferg to win the battle. We will see though. Seems all of the QBs are at least serviceable. From what I could tell, no one sounded like they didn't belong there.

Yep, agree with all of this.

@AKMoussa: #SEC Spring Game Attendance Today:
Tennessee – 68,548
UGA – 46,073
South Carolina – 36,412
Florida – 35,834
Miss. St. – 21,710
Vandy – 8,400

And SCar was flippin televised on ESPN! SMH.

Highlights give a lot of hope for the offense. Looks like the defense needs to find its identity and I think they will be better equipped to do that once the summer arrivals get in the mix.

Just now getting time to talk about the game. I thought Hurd looked real good, Worley did a little better that I thought he would, Dobbs also looked fairly good today. Pearson did good but he missed on at least one I thought he should have got. Malone was incredible for a soon to be freshman class player, had better speed than I figured. I took my two grandsons and the oldest (16 years) thought the halftime "show" with all the old-timers was very special. I thought Dewey Warren has lost a lot on his throwing arm in only 49 years but Tony Robinson didn't look too bad. Overall, with a lot of summertime work and the new guys coming in we may be a little better than some expect. If a couple of the teams that were "expected" to lose to don't turn out to be as good then I can see us getting 7, and with some luck, 8 wins. It's about time we started getting some of the good luck that the other teams have been getting. JMO
