If anything I am pumped JRM was able to go toe to toe with Hurd. After a year if he wants to be able to play SEC LB he should beat Hurd who just got on campus. I am very excited for JRM.

Thanks! Honestly, that's not that surprising. JRM is much shorter than Hurd. But, obviously this is cause for concern regarding Hurd and his leverage at that height. Luckily for Hurd, he's big enough that if he builds up a full head of steam, he should be able to run through most folks. I think the injury question surrounding him will be key though. Can he hold up?

He owned Hurd in like 4 secs

Experience in a college level S&C program and more physical maturity has a lot to do with it IMO. Hurd has only been in campus a few months.

After watching all the highlights and reading the conversations, my only concern is defense. More specifically safety and D tackle are my concerns. I am sure it will pan out when the rest of the class gets here. Of course our offense could just be that good.

The matchup that surprised me was Foreman holding up with Croom. Carson beat Sanders.

I wanted to see what Vereen could do

Thoughts from today:

IMO Worley starts against Utah St. I would like to see Dobbs against the 1s because he was very impressive. Ferguson struggled a lot, but looked better in 2nd half.

Our passing game looked phenomenal! It was in sync, and it almost didn't matter who was at QB (except Fergy in 1st half). I don't know if our defense is that bad or our passing game is just that good. I'm hoping the latter.

Malone will be an All-American. He's a stud to only be here for 3 months. The WR group is no doubt our best unit.

Hurd definitely looks the part, although he got owned in the circle of life.

I thought our OL looked better than I expected, although they did give up a few sacks.

Worried about our defense. That's all I will say. Hoping our summer enrollees will help.

Looks like we came out of spring healthy. Everyone that got banged up today went back in.

Great experience! Butch just doesn't miss any small detail to maximize every situation that this program is involved in. I really hope we start winning soon, and he is our HC for a very long time.

GO VOLS!

Good recap. Plenty of help on the D arrives this summer.

Most of the EEs here now are offensive studs.

Well today was first experience at Neyland and it far exceeded my expectations. I knew it was going to be special. But getting to share it with my 4 year old daughter was the icing on the cake. What I saw during the game was Worley is serviceable as expected. Did hit north I believe with a nice td. Malone is going to be an absolute BEAST. Dobbs to me showed flashes of being a game changer.( 60 yd td run on broken play) also looked calmer and more accurate. Hurd looked the part. And Pearson was shifty and hard to bring down . I do believe we will be bowling again this year just on the strength of our offense alone.

Dobbs needs to be in the 2 reppin with the ones come fall camp. Worley n Dobbs.

Completely agree! Worley is the starter, and will be named it, when Butch deems it to be the right time. 11/13 is great numbers. With the playmakers that we have in our WR group, all we need is someone to manage the game and get them the ball without making stupid mistakes. IMO Worley is the guy to do just that.

The best case scenario for us is that Dobbs, with the SEC growing pains he's already gone through, is good enough to push Worley as the starter.

Ferg has special arm talent but Dobbs' athleticism will be huge behind a completely revamped offensive line.

I unfortunately think it is the latter right now. But I think the incoming freshman will provide a nice fresh breath of competition and energy.

Agreed.

I think our D will be somewhere around 9th-10th in the SEC, but the offense will be 6th-7th. Should be good enough for 6 wins.

I just hate having to rely on freshman. I know they are talented, but no experience in this league across multiple positions hurts. Good thing though, is that won't be the case after this season.

It is too funny to see people make a judgement of who is going to start and who is going to sit the bench based off of one scrimmage. Not one of them saw the month's worth of practices that the coaches oversaw or the film that the coaches have watched in determining who plays and who backs up the others.
