Once again to any delusional UT fan that believes only because of women's basketball we are the #2 program in bb I can no longer debate with you as this isn't even close to realistic! Anyone can write an article to make anything seem how they want it to its called the media. And the media clearly has removed your capacity for educated thought or we wouldn't even be discussing UT as the #2 bb ever! Are we even #2 in the Sec in reality? Wake up I'm a fan too, but a realistic one,Lmmfao!

Again the article is measuring all NCAA D1 basketball programs using the same metric and that metric involves the performance of both men's and women's teams to gauge overall program. It's really not difficult to comprehend.

Anyone can write an article to make anything seem how they want it to its called the media. And the media clearly has removed your capacity for educated thought or we wouldn't even be discussing UT as the #2 bb ever! Are we even #2 in the Sec in reality? Except this article supports itself with facts and statistics rather than opinions and applies the same metric to all other programs. Mathematics must be out to get you.

Further, you're asserting that there are 'delusional' fans stating arguments they haven't stated. Yet despite the absence of any fans making the arguments you claim they're making and despite the fact that the metric the author uses has been explained to you, you're still obsessed with the false belief that sausages are superior to tacos and ignore what the author has concluded using that wicked math of his. I'm truly sorry your obsession with male genitalia prevents you from comprehending what these statistics are gauging. Perhaps you could join a sausage lovers support group so that it might relieve all of that pent up tension and enable you to comprehend what not only the article has said but what posters in this thread have said.

Wow less than 20 posts and I'm already thinking of the ignore button. I wonder if that's a record?

Combining mens and girls programs and people want to use that as a marker of how good your program is?

Please. Girl's basketball does not count towards men's basketball.

Our basketball program is not storied and has a long way to go. We have the facilities just not the tradition on the court.

Pretty much my point but no vol fanatic can be realistic so I thought I would and they can't relate!

Gonna be called a troll but no way you can claim "2nd best program" (or any spot) based off tourney wins. Yes, it's a great way to see which elite teams can finish when it counts, but there's more to programs.

That being said, very impressed at the Uconn and Tenn. spots. Obviously the women are the main contributors, but shows overall success is pretty good.

Wait this just in...... Tennessee is the #2 best basketball program ever! Say that BS anywhere other than a Vol forum and watch the reaction you get! Laughed out of the room the minute you try to say check the Lady Vols record! Who are you kidding nobody but some old guys with no life or women even watch girls basketball the average man like myself hasn't ever watched a wnba game or women's college it's just not interesting and I'm not trying to be sexist just honest which I see isn't easy for some of you. Ucla, NC, Duke, Kansas, and I can keep going are all ahead of us as basketball programs keep lying to yourselves if it makes your life more fulfilling to each his own! Now it's a pretty day in Hawaii so I'm off to the beach have a nice day realistic vol fans, no words for the we are the #2 bb program ever guys they are in their own lil vol world where women's bb matters more than men's lol!

Yeah, except a fraction of the people care about women's basketball compared to the men's game.

So in all, this list is really silly.

Actually the UT women have quite a following...In fact back in the day use to outdraw the men...Of course back in the day there were high school teams that were more fun to watch than the UT men's teams.

They've outdrawn the men 3 times, all when Buzz Peterson was coach and even then by not much. Even under Houston and O'Neil, the men drew better.

The idea that because the women have been more successful that they are more popular is a much repeated myth.

Wow, that's some world-class spinnin'. The author even skewed the stats to only start in 1951 to screw UK out of 2 of their NC's; his reasoning being that the NIT was the premier post-season tourney before then... except that not only were the tourneys started within a year of each other, lots of teams played in both. I think 1 team even won both tourneys 1 year.

Some sports I can see combining the teams to get a picture of overall success, like T&F, where the same coach often coaches both teams.

But women's basketball, ALL women's basketball, even WNBA, is terrible... it can barely even be called the same sport as what the men play.

Imagine a game between all the boys who didn't get picked for a middle-school game on the playground; that's what a women's game looks like... air balls all over the place, bricks against the backboard, layups that slam into the underside of the rim and come right back down on their head. It's comical.

Just goes to show that you can "prove" anything by fudging the right combination of numbers.
