Even More Obamacare Follies

You need to do some research on this subject.

The Fed government (our taxes) are subsidizing the expansion for x number of years then the states are left to foot the bill for the increased numbers.

That is why the states opted out. IIRC the feds were going to pay for only 3 years

Thus far Tennessee has lost out on $617,000,000 in federal funding.

Brilliant.

And in 3 years what would our outlay be to cover it since the Fed money starts to dry up?

We had a system in place, Obamacare killed it.

Where does that money come from?

Right and in 3 years the tax payers of those states would be stuck with the bill. Thank goodness TN opted out.

I saw Haslam being interviewed on one of the Knoxville station a couple of weeks ago. He stated that TN is in negotiations with DC to expand Medicaid. Who knows what will happen. IIRC Ohio opted in a few months ago. I believe that is the only GOP Governor that has opted in.

Court reporter today said her learning disabled brother, 54, could never get anything other than minimum wage jobs so never had insurance. Used the ER when sick.

Signed up for insurance via Obamacare months ago.

A couple of weeks ago he had shortness of breath and went to ER. Aortic aneurysm. Repaired.

In their view Obamacare saved his life.

What was his "learning disability" & how did he ever make it to 54? It should've been his family's obligation to pick up the slack not everybody else's.

LOL you are so dense. That's the point.

Had he not been able to enroll he'd have either died or gotten the surgery and not contributed a cent. Now, he's paying.

Everybody else still pays. From your example he probably got a ton of subsidies & probably stiffed on the deductible.

Some have a hard time of comprehending that we have been paying hospital bills for guys like this for years with taxpayer money.

We still do. What changed? He puts a few dollars in & everybody else foots the rest.

Paying medical bills for the poor is nothing new.
We can now subsidized his premium vs paying bill.

Which cost the taxpayer less money in the long haul ? I dont think anyone actually knows the answer until this plays out somewhat.

No more than 10% of the amount paid to Tennessee healthcare providers.

As it is now, we're still paying the taxes, still paying for people who end up hospitalized, yet receiving no Medicaid reimbursements.

Where's the sense in that?
