That Wingate comparison is useful in another regard. Both kids were higher ranked early than they were as seniors. Wingate was the top ranked freshman in the country. Turman was a top 100 4 star as a sophomore. Wingate settled out as a bottom half of the top 100 4 star as a senior an Turman fell out of the top 150. They were highly ranked early because there were physically dominant in relation to peers. Their lack of intensity was exposed when their peers caught up. I'm not sure CCM would have been a great coach for Wingate as he seems to want self-motivated kids. Will be curious to see how he relates to Turman.
Honestly, the parallel in their respective drop in the rankings had crossed my mind. Wingate turned out alright short of his substance abuse. I could live with that type production from Turman on the court.
McRae's shot is even flatter
Hmmm...debatable, but it is flat. McRae has a lot wrong with his shot. He is a career 34% shooter from 3. Not exactly Mr. Automatic from there, but he was one of our best because he had no conscience...sometimes to a fault.
I imagine Cornish will be streaky like McRae in terms of shooting. Most guys with a flat shot tend to be.
Thanks. That is incredible improvement from EYBL across the line - 35% fgs, 27 pct 3s and 56 pct fts. Just huge jumps. May need to get his shooting coach on the staff in Knoxville.
I would assume the EYBL has more stiffer competition than his high school region.
It's work ethic
I would also point out that in eybl he didn't have much help, and going against teams with 4 and 5 high major players makes it miserable when you're by far the best player on your team if you get what I'm saying.
True, but his biggest jump was free throws and free throw defense is the same in high school, EYBL, college and the NBA.
It's a combination of both as I pointed out above. On his EYBL team he was the best player by far, going against some of the EYBL team with 4 and 5 high majors made the going tough thus probably making his EYBL numbers a bit under what's really accurate.
I will point out he is 4-0 against Dominic Magee though
not by far chad lott and johnathon both had as good or better stats than him and lott is the higher rated player from the 2015 class.
If you don't think Cornish was the better player that's fine, you're wrong, but that's fine. Is Lott higher rated as of today, sure, not by much, but sure. However Jordan has a year on him and was the best player on that team. Like I said, and you proved my point with your post, jordan attracted the best defenders of the opposing teams and was the #1 threat opposing coaches targeted, that's why other guys got theirs.
where did u watch them play at and how did u talk coaches?
It is, but 6'9 245 pound high schoolers should dominate all phases. Turman doesn't always go all out in games though. Hopefully we won't have to rely on him next year and that problem gets taken care of by the coaches.
lol! There's plenty of guys out there that don't unfortunately. If we just counted on their size it would be a real easy deduction. We have a guy 6'10 275 that doesn't do anything but warm the bench with his rear end. I used to think Jon Koncak was the biggest waste of 6'10 and above in an individual. I'm beginning to change my view on that.I want, at least, half baked production from everybody on the roster. If that doesn't happen, for whatever reason, I want the roster wittled down. Guys that aren't productive need to get gone and that includes walk-ons.
