Cuonzo is Perfectly Fine for Vols

History is far more heavily weighted on the side of him not being Coach K or Donovan. But if he's going to be here, I hope he joins that group. To do so, we need a top 10 class in 2015.

How many top 10 classes has Bo Ryan ever had?

Heck, how many 4* or 5* does he have on his final four squad this year...

Bo Ryan is the rare white bengal tiger. How many top classes come to Kentucky, Florida, UConn etc?

As I've pointed out many times, the final 4 is overwhelmingly dominated by teams that sign at least top 20 classes in the the years leading up to them making it.

The championship even more so, NO team has won it all without signing great recruiting classes leading into the year they won it in 25 years or more.

I'd far prefer counting on the rule rather than the exception.

Pearl had many top 10 classes, how many championships did he win? Final fours?

Hell, Martin's recurring strategy was one basket away from matching the best result Bruce Pearl ever had.

I don't care how you recruit, results are what matter, if Martin's strategy of recruiting continues results similar to last year I'm all for it. It has been proven you can win with either strategy, acting as if top recruiting classes guarantees final fours and championships is a crock of $h!t though.

Considering the amount of championships and final fours Tennessee has had, I'd give top recruiting classes a shot.

I believe it was pat summit who said "you can't win the Kentucky derby riding a donkey".

Yes u can but which do u win with more frequently......its ridiculous to claim that u win at even close to the same rate with weak recruiting.

I guess you didn't read my post

We've tried top classes, they didn't produce final fours or championships.

Martin's strategy game one basket from matching Pearl's best result, so I'm not sure an arguement can really be made that either one of those 2 guys worked night and day better.

Mcrae and maymon.....two key pieces were not part of Zo's recruiting strategy.

If you think Maymon this year was the Maymon out of HS you're behind mistaken.

Also, do you discount pearls first few years because he didn't recruit CJ, Lofton or Jajuan?

John Calipari and Bo Ryan's career winning percentages are almost identical.

Name the team without top recruiting to ever win a championship....I agree Bo ryan is a special coach but there are way more tony barbees and fox than their are Bo Ryans out there.

I dont discount what pearl or zo accomplished but to claim recruiting philosphy as the reason we made the sweet sixteen any more than pearls first yr turn around was based on his recruiting.

If you're gonna call every season that doesn't end in a win as a recruiting failure then I'm not sure what to tell you.

My point is simply can we not STFU and wait to see what happens? Martin's gonna be in year 4 with all his own guys next year, if he makes the Elite 8 next year will you admit his system works, and that he might just actually be a good coach?

I dont know if u realize this but u r on a message board and its not meant to wait till next season.....it is for us to discuss and give our opinions. Its not just a place for us to sprout flowers out our butts and go on and on about how great things are....I have always believed to be a good coach u have to make the tourney on avg three out of every four yrs and have top twenty recruiting......if he can win and make an elite eight next yr with marginal recruiting then yes I will start believing in him more.

Bruce did absolutely zero to develop their talent as well. All of their development falls on Zo's resume.

LOL and jajuan smith.....lofton....cj watson.....dane bradshaw fall on bruce.....guys that arent one and dones develop in college.....both guys had all the talent in the world just needed to learn how to use it.

Brice just called.this an arranged marriage. Said Martin doesn't want to be at TN. Purdue looms. Buzz told him stay away from Marquette.

and Jauan Smith, JP Prince, Tyler Smith and Chris Lofton were not part of Bruce's recruiting either.

You get credit for transfers....just like zo deserves credit for bringing in barton and hopefully rhett....all about building a program.

That went to the tourney six straight yrs.
and we ended up on probation because Bruce cheated and lied.

What else did we not find out about Bruce and what he was doing here?

At least with Martin, we know he is running a clean ship and winning with quality people.

Let's see how hot a commodity ole cuonzo is once he's playing with his own recruits. He barely snuck into the tourney with bruce's recruits and got an extremely kind draw. But, Stan Heath and Mike Davis each made further runs in the tourney than cuonzo, but the cuonzo apologists won't acknowledge that.

In any case, next year is going to be a rude awakening for a lot of people. It's going to be interesting to watch.
