Ummm...even with Stokes and Rhett we're not as talented as this year's roster that barely snuck into the tourney.

A rude awakening is coming for many of you.

Yep, bottom third of the conference is what we can hope for. Anything more will exceed expectations.

And this is why we have fans unhappy with our coach. How anyone can make a season prediction without even looking at the schedule is beyond me smh...

Bingo

and yet making predictions saying we should basically be a top 15 team, while I've seen others say we'll be lucky to win 5 games

Holy $hit people

If Rhett arrives and Stokes stays we should expect 25 regular season wins, 2nd at worst in the SEC and a top 4 NCAA seed.

Expect 25 wins??? Are you kidding me? Do me a favor and count up the number of times that's been done in our history, then give me good reason to "expect" 25 wins.

I'll remind most of you that this is all in good fun. With Stokes and Rhett in the fold, I simply believe this is a 20 plus win team during the regular season that will finish no worse than third in the league. Since my disposable income is fairly significant, I just wanted to play a little game with some of our most prideful fanatics.

Our results will certainly hinge on whether Stokes comes back or not. Wait until he makes a decision and then take a poll. Without him and Rhett we are going to struggle? Pops and Reese inside -exclusive of freshmen. Uggg - not pretty. Too much unknown at this time to opine imo.

Stokes has seen his draft stock fall ALOT! Before we hid that part of the schedule in which we lost a few games, Stokes was in the mock draft as going in the 1st round to Houston. Now, he is projected to be a late 2nd rounder.

Being a late 2nd rounder makes a big difference moneywise and with there only being 2 rounds in the draft, it would be easy to go from late 2nd round to non drafted.

My guess is that he returns. Thus Rhett comes!

LOL. We have won 25 regular season games once in our history. Even with multiple top ten preseason rankings and more talent than we will have next year even with those two. You probably think we should have expected at least a Sweet 16 this year despite no bench and not being ranked.

Since some of you think we'll be so bad next year, I would like to know exactly what you approximate our results will be and where we will be playing our basketball in March? Win/loss totals, and postseason predictions. After Stokes makes his announcement to return, and Rhett has packed his bags for the short trek over to Knoxville, I have a feeling your doom and gloom season isn't looking so likely at this point.

We are pretty sure what our roster will look like. Cheivous leaves, Stokes stays, Rhett comes & the 4 freshmen will be coming in.

We know the schedule

However; we can't predict any injuries! So, how can we predict a win/loss record? What if Stokes gets injured? What if Thompson gets injured? Then what?

Weakest SEC, maybe ever, with 18 games against it, a minimum of 7 guaranteed OOC wins against clinkers. The reason we've not won 25 games many times is because entire seasons used to consist of 25-28 games. In the era of 30+ games, 25 wins isn't unreasonable at all.

25-6 isn't an outrageous expectation for next season.

If we have 3 seniors starting, two of whom we know are top notch players, a sophmore 5 star top 25 recruit, as well as Moore, Davis, the incoming class. Heck, even without knowing anything about Rhett the crew at CBS were talking about how good we could be next year if Stokes returns.

Indeed I did expect a sweet 16 this year. I also find that when multiple national publications that cover basketball ranked us as high as 17th, that we were indeed expected to be in that range.

I also can't figure out this no bench stuff. I hear constantly about how well Moore and Thompson played this season. But then I hear the same posters saying we had nothing on the bench.

We don't know about Stokes, Rhett, or the schedule. This team could win 14 or 24 depending on how things shake out. If we miss out on the bigs middle third of the SEC and a CBI bid seems about right.

Which is why I prefaced my original prediction on Rhett and Stokes both being here. We basically know who we'll play in 25 of the 31 or so regular season games. And probably a bit beyond that, since we're in the Old Spice Classic with certain set teams.

The names may change on some of the lower level teams, but we will play 6-7 teams that we should easily handle OOC. The directional schools of CBB.

I really think we should have a big year in the SEC next year. 14-4 or better. Only play UK and UF once. UK for sure at home. Missouri's best player declared for the NBA. Arkansas is very beatable. Everyone else in the SEC is...well....not good at all.

Unless we just play a murderers row OOC besides the bad teams, we should be able to win some games there too.

I think those guys were fairly productive coming off the bench. But neither were scorers. We were fortunate to not need a lot of scoring coming off the bench, but next year we will need more of it. IMO

If Josh develops consistency and Hubbs can score 12 a game, I think the offense will be just as good as it was this year.

I'd look for Stokes to average 15 ppg again. Josh to average 14 ppg, 12ppg out of Hubbs. Hopefully 10-12 out of Thompson/Austin. 6 from Moore. 6-8 from Rhett and 10 from the rest of the bench.

That'd put us at 73 points a game, we averaged 72 ppg last year.

I'd like to see DT and LA averaging 5-7 assists each before relying on their score. Everything else I agree 100%.

Having your two PG combine for 10-12 points isn't really them lighting it up.

I doubt they'll average 5-7 assists each. Usually 4-5 assists will lead the SEC in a given year. If they combine for 7 assists and 12 points they're doing an effective job as long as they're playing good defense.
