What legacy did UF have when Donovan took over? Hasn't stopped him from winning titles.
As for UT, we had a legacy of 6-6 NCAAs, 2 Sweet 16's, an elite 8, an SEC title. And that's gone straight downhill, despite the Umass and mercer wins.
That "legacy" at UT was a house of cards, as proven by the NCAA.
This is an asinine statement in the extreme. The program did nothing wrong and wasn't doing anything illegal to gain a competitive edge in those years. That's why we didn't forfeit a single game we won in those 6 season.
The extreme overreaction by the NCAA in our case was and will always be ridiculous.
If they all did it he wouldn't be one of few to have gotten caught dingus
When it all went down Gary Parrish published an article where he said he talked to 10 coaches in the power conferences and everyone of them said they did it and that basically everyone else did to. That's why there is not even a rule on this anymore. The original premise was that it gave us an advantage but how did it do that when the competition was doing the same thing. Its the lying that killed the golden egg here.
That was a secondary violation. On par with the hundreds of violations reported each year by programs throughout the NCAA.
To act as if there was rampant cheating going on and that's the only reason Pearl won games is ridiculous. That was what was implied in the statement I made.
I am clueless as to why anyone wants to crap on probably the best run of basketball we've ever saw here.
Most secondary violations are never reported in themedia......he avg 3 excessive calls a month....I pretty sure it is one of the most violated stistipulations.
This real fan let's the AD decide what is best for the program.
As to Cuonzo talking with Marquette or any other program, remember this. There is a policy ( I believe it is a part of affirmative action) that during a coaching search that a minority candidate be interviewed and considered for the job. Can you name a minority candidate out there other than Cuonzo that had a better year? I can't.
As to your assessment of his performance, it seems to be the opinion of someone who just wants a change, or who's true loyalty may lie with another program. I don't know what you are seeing, but I did not see what you described this season.
It is clear that you are one of these folks who believe that if you and others complain long enough, someone will listen and give you what you want. And thanks to the internet, all you will do is distract the players who might come on here and read it. I seriously doubt Jimmy Cheek, Dave Hart, or any member of the board of regents will even bother to come on here.
You want the Vols to win? Then get behind them, and say something constructive for a change. Because believe it or not, the petition did nothing but discourage the team. If fans affect performance in a positive way, it is the ones who stick with them through the wins and the losses. Those are the ones that fire them up to play better. Not you nagging Nancies.
Spare me.
You can't possibly believe all this BS you typed.
This team was 17-11 and looking NIT bound at best until that petition came about. It certainly got Martin's and the teams notice and they responded.
Your point about affirmative action is lost on me. I thought we were discussing the current head coach and the job he did or will do next season. It's apparent you have been thinking about a coaching search as well so your sanctimonious tone is highly amusing.
hasn't CCM teams all was been know for strong finishes before he came to UT ?
so the petition didn't do anything, but make UT fans look like dumb asses ,that is all it did,now we are know for that, would a good mattress burning be in order too ?
as for stinking next season, what if they don't? they will be all right,i don't expect them to be world beaters, but they will be respectful which with the Senior class going, that is all you can expect
our fans need to get behind the team and quit acting like the worst fan base in the Nation, who would want to come here with the lack of support that CCM has ?
I do have to give CCM congratulations for staying here,to finish what he has started,he is The Man as far as i am concerned and hopefully other fans of UT Basketball are too
Go Vols :clapping:
foolish? the ncaa agrees which is why they make them secondary violations just like zo and his secondary violations.
Because that is the nature of having a job. I agree that this year was roughly on par with expectations resulting from a preseason top 25 ranking, but if we miss the tourney next year, as I suspect we will, he will be 1/4 and squarely back on the hot seat.
