Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XI

I believe that's true. I know I heard Fuad Reveiz mention it more than once. Fuad really, really disliked Dooley and that an extreme understatement.

Palardy said it was not true. May have been being diplomatic, but that's hard to believe, even coming from Dooley.

What did Bullard do - walk? And people wonder why they had trouble running the ball with a slow O-line. I am very thankful Butch is changing all of that. It starts this coming season.

This article just backs up the talk of QBs picking early. I think we will have a guy besides Jennings, committed by the end of May first week of June.
Article lists Dobbs as one of three to pick a team in February, of course Dobbs committed early to the Sun devils and we just flipped that like a boss.

Madkins pointed out on VQ that Palardy's 4.64 40 today is faster than any non WR or RB pro day time at UT in the last 3 years. Sobering stat.

Unreal. It's baffling how little speed there was on those teams. It's a wonder we managed 5 wins in any season...no speed on defense whatsoever. I'm so glad those days are over....

Well, "ending" at the very least.

The difference in speed on defense now and with the incoming freshman is night and day compared to previous years...I think the speed issue has been addressed, but will continue to be addressed in recruiting. CBJ will not allow team speed to diminish again.

I wouldn't go that far.

It appears that the overall talent & speed of UT's football team is gradually improving.

But "those days" aren't quite over yet.

I'm think (hope) his recruiting will prove to be better than he's given credit for. I think he recruits players to his system, rather than solely focusing on landing McDonalds All Americans that leave for the nba after a year. I think that approach can work in college basketball, as long as those guys are athletic, put in the work and consistently develop over time. Martin has already proven he can develop players. Stokes, McCrae and especially Josh Richardson have come a long way under him.

Plus, with a sweet sixteen under his belt, coupled with an extension and our facilities, he might land a few more big names going forward.

We will see. I think his defense-first, grind it out style of play will ultimately be what sets him apart. Once I saw it in full force for the last three weeks of this season, I was a believer. We really steamrolled folks and gave two championship caliber squads with significant talent advantages in Michigan and Florida a run for their money.

:hi: What he said!

There's no doubt there's a difference, but when you're coming from where we are coming from, any improvement is good improvement.

Just doesn't mean we're "there"....yet.
