BREAKING NEWS!!!Cuonzo Martin removes name from Marquette search

Ainge is saying He does not think Martin gets a actual raise. He thinks if anything his incentives will be increased... it would be a raised based on performance.

"Additionally, the social culture of the men's basketball program has vastly improved under Cuonzo's leadership."

Nice little shot at BP by Hart.

I'm no professional sports analyst, but this is guaranteed to be wrong

Let's just hope for all involved that in 2 years Purdue would be interested in CCM.

As of now Purdue will bring back 5 4* players next season, and add a 7'2 270 pound 4* player, and some much needed shooting from the state of Ohio. I wouldn't stick a fork in Matt Painter just yet.

I'm not.

Just saying that if CCM is still a viable coaching search option in 2 years, then we will have had 2 pretty successful seasons.

Is it? Didn't we let our starting PG leave because he was hooking up with an admin who was fixing grades? What happened in BP's tenure that was worse than that?

Sounds like an attempt to justify what I'm sure is going to be a whopper of a contract.

It's definitely a legitimate point.

Well that point guard was recruited by Bruce Pearl and ran off by Cuonzo Martin.

Something about drugs and guns if I remember correctly.

I hope everyone of these "were heading in the right direction" folks eat the biggest pile of crow imaginable. This hurts worse than anything UT basketball related since Izzo beat us in the elite 8

So you want us to fail? Not a true fan imo

It's one thing to still wonder if Martin is the guy to lead this team for years, and to be skeptical that we'll be back in the NCAAT next year.

It's quite another to act like a spoiled brat because he didn't leave and start proclaiming how stupid the fanbase is for accepting it and how bad we're going to suck. Grow up.

wonder what season tickets sales for basketball will look like next year? probably depends a lot on what stokes does.....

I have a hard time being upset with a person who takes a better opportunity. If that comes with stability and more money then good for them

IMO loyalty is extremely overrated when it comes to sports and coaches

I agree. I think the expectation that fans attach to loyalty is unreasonable. While we all think our university is the best and that it should be obvious to the coach that the university is the best, fans fail to realize that this is a job for the coach. How many of us who really like our jobs would actually change jobs if the right job offer came along when it was best for the family, meant higher pay, and/or offered greater job security? So, if you didn't like your job, it would be a no brainer.

Whatever CCM's reasons, I'm pleased he is staying. I want that world beating high school junior or sophomore at anywhere high school USA to look at Tennessee and say I'd like to play for Coach Martin at Tennessee. This requires consistency and some higher probability that the coach will be around a few years for that kind of thinking to occur and for these kids to target Tennessee in the future along with Florida, Kentucky, Michigan State, Duke, etc.

GBO!!
