Well, what I do know is that he's a very highly rated prospect with an elite offer list and is at the top of the UT QB board with Gentry and Wimbush. I'm pretty sure that 99% of us posting on here aren't as good at evaluating talent as the UT coaching staff and they want him to be a UT QB, that says a lot to me even if you disregard the rankings. But lets take a look at those rankings...

Rivals - #2 Dual Threat QB, 6.0 4star.

247 - #1 Dual Threat QB, 5 star.

Scout - #3 QB, 5 star.

ESPN - #2 Athlete, 4 star.

And on 247's composite rankings - #1 Dual Threat QB, #5 player in the state of Florida.

Those are elite rankings.

Some on here have the opinion that he won't be a good college QB, and maybe that will be the case, but basing my opinion on all the information above (coaches evaluations, offer list, rankings) I'm going to say I think with the right coaching Torrance Gibson could be an elite QB at the next level. I think it's pretty clear that the chances of that happening are much better than him being a bust.

At the end of the day, I hope he signs with UT. I think only a fool would hope he went elsewhere. JMO

The real question is who are the 1%?

I think people are trying to evaluate him too much like a pro prospect. He may not be the most accurate quarterback, but the college game is perfect for him. There are tons of guys who broke records and won heismans because they were elite athletes who could throw well enough. This kid is a special kind of athlete. I think he would absolutely tear it up at the college level.

He's got hearts in his eyes when he talks about Tennessee.

Tee Martin? Mobile, Big Arm, Not Peyton Manning accurate.

Gibson is a different breed of athlete than Tee Martin. He is one of the best athletes in the state of Florida. Comparable athlete to Nick Marshall, but not quite as shifty because of being a long strider.

I don't think I would classify Gibson as having a big arm. Solid arm, but not on the same level as Gentry. He is a noticeably better athlete than Jauan Jennings, who is considered to be one of the best pure athletes in the state of Tennessee.

Who do you like better for QB for our offense, Gentry or Gibson?

I like Gentry. He has a really quick release, great velocity, and may actually be better throwing the ball on the run. It is tough to judge his accuracy because no one puts the inaccurate throws on a highlight film. My biggest concern with Gentry would be how he sees the field and makes reads, because his offense appears to be a half-field type offense where he doesn't really have to do that. Neither are necessarily negatives, just question marks.

With Gibson, he has a very inconsistent motion and I think that accuracy is a very legitimate concern.

Thanks Madkins. :good!:

Love that when asked what his favorite moment/memory of his trips were, he says "the Tennessee fans"!
Yeah, that made me smile. I'm biased but I think UT fans are the best despite the bickering found here. In my hometown, all the Vol fans love to talk football and the direction we are headed.
