Worst call ever

I hate to blame officiating too but it's gotten to the point where it's so bad that it's ruining the game of basketball. It's bad enough in football but they look good compared to BB!
The NCAA needs to take refs away from certain conferences & make them all officiate all over the country instead of regionally. It would be fairer that way & the same parts of the country wouldn't get stuck with the worst refs like they do now!

Should have been a no call, so Michigan would have got the ball, so we probably would have lost anyway, it easy know to question the play I thought we should have threw the ball to the top of the key and then kick it back inside if he was open, but I have no problem with the play called we could call the same play again, might work we will never know, I am proud of the team the way they fought back.:salute:

Thought I'd feel better the day after. Nope. I feel worse. McRae was going do have a dunk or layup for the win.

@Deadspin: Michigan flop ruins otherwise great game: Michigan Flop Ruins An Otherwise Great Game

This is what is driving me crazy about people whining about throwing it in to Stokes, looking at the gif it's clear McRae was open and while no one can definitely know what Stokes was going to do, you can't automatically assume he wasn't going to kick it to McRae, who would have likely had a very make-able shot for the win.

Yes he was open and I think the play was initially a pass to McRae. My only thing is with 10 seconds left why was the play not ran thru another slasher/shooter I case the play was disrupted instead of a big man???

Why wouldMichigan get the ball? Michigan knocked it out of bounds out of Stokes hands.

David Hall, the official who made that bogus call, ranks with Alamma Matthews, who ruled it a "catch" on the J. Gaffney end zone play.

The play would've worked had it not been for the foul. Jordan was open.

Its funny how no one mentions how the ref's blew a call a few seconds earlier when the ball clearly went out of bounds off of Maymons hand. Even after a slow motion replay...we were still given the ball. Had we won that game, Michigan fans would have been furious over that call and they would've been absolutely right. But lets not mention an obvious, slow motion replay that was missed but went in our favor, lets focus on a questionable call that went against us.

Congrats to the team and the coach for finishing strong.

Were those the same refs that called the Louisville/KY game? If so, I just claim incompetency not getting jobbed. That game was called just as atrocious!
While I only watched the first half, I totally agree. I could not believe the zebra didn't call the Cat's foot on the baseline with him looking straight at it from 5 feet! Many other examples too. It's totally a mystery when the ref's decide to call a foul on the mauling occurring on the blocks almost every play. Then the least contact, and they call a foul.

Your missing the point, that call went our way! Are you a Michigan fan?

It was mentioned. Several times

Also funny how you emphasis one is "obvious" and the other is "questionable". Nice job.

Totally agree they missed it. Did we even score after it though?

Call should have been correct regardless, but I'm just curious. I can't remember.

Not sure either. I just couldnt believe the call. Couldnt believe the charge call either, but at least it is debatable

Mich player knocked it out of bounds. he didn't steal it. Stokes didn't lower his shoulder. Plain to see who you were cheering for

1. You're such a homer if you want to argue he didn't lower the shoulder.
2. The help defender knocked the ball away. From the angle I remember seeing it, he at least got a piece of the ball. I haven't looked at the replay since the game, but I will agree he did hit at least part of the wrist/hand. But I wouldn't call it a hack.
3. I was cheering for the Vols. I won't lie and say I wasn't a tiny bit happy when Michigan won though. They were the easier matchup vs UK.

Why do I think that if the exact same play happened and the call went against Randle that you just might be singing a different tune?

Don't know what call you are referencing.

On a side note to the refereeing, it's been good for the most part the entire tourney. I hate a charging call deciding the UT game like that, but oh well.

Gif that shows all angles. Also shows the ball didn't go out of bounds. It took an odd bounce and stayed in.

The problem was that Stokes should never have gotten the ball in the first place. Who does every coach in America throw it to with 10 second left? Answer: His best player, the guy who can handle the ball and create. We had two guys who could have gotten a shot--and neither one was named Stokes. Would the Lakers throw it to Gasol with 10 second left? No, they throw it to Bryant! Miami throws it to Labron--but he can escape pressure, create, get off a decent shot. It's not rocket science. And, yea, Stokes tried to bull his way between two defenders. I hated the call, too, but the wrong guy had the ball.

You can see he was trying to pass to McRae. The play would have worked. McRae was going to have a completely open lane with the defender stepping down to double Stokes.

Hack by the UM player?
Definitely not.

The correct call is a block on Morgan. In that situation, I couldn't have blamed them for letting it play on, which would have probably resulted in Michigan getting the ball anyway off the steal and the ball staying in bounds.

It had to either be a charge or a no-call. Either way UT loses the ball.
