On the basketball thingy - Bama Dave can justify every excuse now to keep Zo if he wants to be kept. Personally, I would make a couple of offers to him. One offer would be for two years and $1.8 mill with escalators on performance and the buy out stays what is as of Wednesday. The second offer would for $2.0 mill with escalators over 3 or 4 years, increased buy out clauses on both sides, with the stipulation he replaces an assistant coach with a proven offensive assistant that takes the reins on that side of the ball.

I make the offers to Zo because the UTAD always hopes to hit a winner from the up and comers - which is just another roll of the dice. They won't pay big bucks for a basketball coach when football is king. Just don't think the time is right to make a coaching change if he doesn't want to leave on his own volition. He stays long term and wins more with the second option.

I thought I read where Martin made 1.5/yr at UT. I feel his performance as a coach is worth 1.75/yr and the 250 grand raise is reasonable for his 3 years on the job. Do I think he is currently worth 2 million+ to UT? I do not. If I am going to pay 2 million+, I am looking for a new coach. JMO

I like what I see from Zo's teams the last 10 games or so of every season, and they've also showed some improvement each passing year. The question is: where is the consistency year-round? As far as how this translates to raise/extension, the results don't warrant any big-time pay increase or an insane amount of years. I believe you do need to pay the man and give him at least a couple years extension for recruiting purposes.

At this point, his resume here is incomplete. I honestly believe he needs 2 more years to prove himself for a big-time pay day.

Ah heck baseball has been very good to me very good to me until the rubber broke like the backboard when dawkins dunked but my lawyer told me not to talk about that baseball been very good to me

This is the miscellaneous thread. The RF posters that want generic conversation post it here so it doesn't clutter the recruits' threads. Everyone please change your underpants and relax already.

Speaking of basketball though, I would say the only way this Final 4 could possibly end well is if there were a 3 way head on team plane crash and the burning heap of debris fell on a nondescript location in Tuscaloosa, buuuuuut since I'm not that cold and heartless, I will just hold out what little hope there is that Wisconsin will somehow pull the unthinkable.

Right on. I just can't fathom how some Vols fans are cheering for UK or UF to win.

I guess if I had to pick, I'd rather UK win it. UF having a historically terrible football season, and then promptly following it up with a NC in hoops is just sickening.
