Return to the Mothership?

Are they involved in coaching right now? I liked watching all 3 of them play, and think they would make excellent coaches.

Nope, Lofton and Chism are both overseas still playing ball. Not sure about Dane but I know he isn't coaching.

We've hired a slew of bad coaches and produced no kind of coaching tree out of the players or former assistants.

I could see CJ Watson, Chris, Dane, Wayne, and some others finally breaking that mold and going into coaching.

I think it really helps a program when they can cultivate former players. It's easier to get them to come, and it's easier to get them to stay. Hiring young up and comers with no ties to the program always opens you up to losing the coach. If Martin leaves, I think U.T. needs to find a coach where U.T. is the final destination, not a 3-4 year stop along the way.

I say we hire the best available, regardless of his heritage, and pay to keep him for his success.

Not going to lie, not a long time Vol fan here. I'm wondering if U.T. has any coaches out there, either former assistants or former players, that would be considered for a coaching job. I'm much more familiar with Purdue, and they have former coaches and former players all over the college basketball coaching ranks. I haven't heard of any coaches with U.T. connections, but like I said, I'm not a long time Vol fan.

you know more about purdue...what the h&ll kind of tennessee fan are you? is the Zo himself? LOL

Literally the only option we have at this point. Unless we want to hire Tyler Summit away from the Marquette women's team.

My preference would be to keep Martin, and let him continue to grow as a coach, but, as was so eloquently stated early in the post, I'm a **** ***** ***** boilermaker.

Anyways...I'd like to see Lofton, Chism, or Dane coaching one day.

Chism won't get a ligitimate shot from any major college. Remember the night he spent in jail over some argument he had with a woman over child support payments???

That arrest looks bad on his character....

My dad went to Purdue. I was brainwashed from a young age to appreciate everything Boilermaker. I moved to South Carolina and went to Clemson for undergrad (hence the tigeralum part of my name.) I'm a huge Clemson fan, but if it was between Clemson basketball and Purdue basketball, I would go be cheering for Purdue. Like I said, I can't help it, I was brainwashed. My wife if from Knoxville, and got her doctorate at U.T. so I lived in Knoxville for about 4 years. I was looking for a reason to have a team to cheer for in the SEC and when U.T. hired Martin (one of may all time favorite Boilermakers) it gave me the perfect reason to support the Vols. I've been to a few games at Thompson Boling and think it's a great basketball venue. Anyway, I will freely admit that I'm not a VFL, but I do enjoy watching them play, and will continue to follow them regardless of Martin's decision to stay or go. Also, I support any school that beats South Carolina in football.

Well, going to Purdue wasn't really an option, so I had to adapt.

Dane is here in Chattanooga area (Grundy Co, I believe) selling real estate for Jasper Highlands.

Could go to the high school ranks and get Aaron Green. Not sure that his coaching ability has caught up with his love for the school yet, but it would be nice to get a former Vol on the sideline motivating.
