Ok, I'm sick of getting shafted for getting a next-gen system

So if I just agreed that you were being shafted and should feel outraged, you would be ok? Cool, I agree you have every right to feel like you have been wronged. You should sell your console, I can guarantee you can get close to what you put in it, problem solved.

Yes. I would be even better if you just didn't comment at all as well.

Now if you had opened your gibberish with "Well truth be told, the error is on your part" I may have listened. But you chose to open with a pouty face and your arms folded and say "Go buy another system, no one gives a rip!" like a 6-year-old, hence an argument started.

We call this a life-lesson, much like the one I learned about making assumptions that Sony would not screw over it's next-gen only gamers.

Still not getting the point that you aren't being screwed over.

And there isn't an argument here. This is just a case of you not researching a product and then getting into a hissy fit when the company doesbt give you something that they said they wouldn't be giving you. To basis of your tirade has no foundation........at all. It's like you *****ing about a car you bought not having a sunroof and feeling shafted by that, when the dealership told you that it would not have a sunroof

chatt-townVOL,

One thing you need to understand in regards to the PS Plus freebies on PS4 is that all of the big titles on PS4 are still relatively new and still selling. Like others have said, Sony is still struggling to meet demand for the console and therefore new adopters are still looking to purchase titles like Killzone, Assassins Creed, Knack, Tomb Raider, Infamous, Battlefield 4, COD: Ghosts, etc. Why on earth would Sony offer up any of those titles free when people are still purchasing them? You can't possibly compare that to the PS3 who has 7 years worth of games to pull from.

I look at it this way, for the first 6 months we have gotten Resogun, Contrast, Outlast, Don't Starve, and we are about to get Mercenary Kings. Plus we have F2P games like Warframe, Blacklight Retribution, War Thunder (from the euro store), etc. Now, are they the greatest AAA games ever? No but they're games I wouldn't have played otherwise. And it SURE as hell is a lot more to play than what I had back when the PS3 first came out. When I bought PS3 at launch I had Resistance and a few month later I bought Motorstorm! That's IT! That's all I had to play on my PS3 until Uncharted came out! Hell for the first year I played way more PS2 titles on my PS3 than I did actual PS3 titles. My point is, before you think you got "shafted" you might want to pause and look back on how far consoles have come from previous generation in terms of available content to play. On top of that, when I bought PS3 there was no Netflix. There was no Amazon prime. There was no Crackle. No HBO Go. Hardly anything multimedia apps to speak of. Between the games I have and the multi media apps I've already gotten WAY more use out of my PS4 the first six months I've owned it than I ever did in the first six months I owned PS3.

Unless of course the dealership said "it doesn't have a sunroof, but we will install one one in 2014". Then by April they have drilled a small hole in my roof.

That's what these 2-D side-scrollers are to me. A small hole in my roof.

It is a fact that there are a ton more games for the new consoles this launch than the previous two. I'm just really confused as to what AAA title, such as batman:AC, the OP suggest that are made free for the PS4. Batman:AC is a two year old game, and there just isn't any AAA games out there for the PS4 that are similar due to the young age of this console.

I agree with your point. Truth be told, backwards-compatibility would solve all problems right now. Sony could have saved itself a ton of complaints with just letting me play old PS1 games on this system.

At least give me the opinion to download them.

Could you provide the link to where they said they would be making AAA titles free with plus by 2014? I just don't remember reading this, but I have been wrong before. And again, if this has shafted you so much and you are so outraged, a simple solution to your plight would be to sell the console and purchase again in a year or so.

Chatt,

Did you do any research when buying the system? Sony and Microsoft have stated numerous times the systems would not be backwards compatible. Either take it back or sell it.

The nuts and bolts of the systems aren't compatible, so they can't run old gen games. Its not that hard to comprehend.

There is a reason BC isn't available for the new consoles. It is simply a business decision and one that both company's have went with. I am unaware of these massive complaints that you are referring to, seems the opposite, they can't make the consoles fast enough to satisfy demand right now.

Exactly. Plus I said in my edited comment that when you consider the fact that when PS3 launched there weren't any multi-media apps available. There was no Netflix, no Amazon Prime, no Crackle, no HBO Go, etc. When you factor in both games and multimedia apps I've gotten WAY more use out of my PS4 in it's first 4-1/2 months than I ever did out of my PS3 at this same point in time.

No I knew they wouldn't be, but again, I figured the same library with classic games would be available for download, so I didn't care. I was wrong.

I didn't have trouble comprehending it. Why would me saying "it wouldn't be a problem if it was backwards-compatible" mean I don't comprehend that it's not backwards-compatible?

Because you've been pissing and moaning about not being able to play older PS games for free for 2 hours now.

That response doesn't make sense. And the thread was about not being able to download older games.

Are you sure comprehension is a problem for me and not you?

Because it makes you sound irrational. You've already admitted that you A.) Knew the consoles wouldn't have backwards compatibility before you bought one and B.) Said that you understand the logistics behind why they're not. Yet in spite of those 2 facts you're still saying "backwards compatibility would solve all this" as if that's even remotely a possibility.

My issue isn't necessarily with not being able to get them for free. I don't mind paying $10-$20 for classic games, even though I already did once. I just don't like that I don't have the option. But I do get the option for a side-scrolling 2-D Indy game.

Believe me if I knew it was an option and they just chose not to I probably wouldn't have even bought the system.

speaking of backwards compatibility have you heard the rumor going around that Sony is going to announce Backwards compatibility with ps1 and ps2 games on your PS4 at E3 this year?

Why did you figure this when they told you that there wouldn't be clastic games for download?

I'm glad everyone has contributed so much to this thread, and I'm sure you all feel like you conveyed your points very well. And I'm sure in your mind, I should be convinced now that I am not getting screwed.

You see I follow all the websites, the "predictions for PSN releases next month" websites. As do many of my gaming friends. And then I see "Final Fantasy X/X-2" and I'm like "Awesome! Oh wait..... PS3 only....."

Then I see "Arkham City" and I'm like "Awesome! Oh wait....... PS3 only......"

Then I see "2-D side scrolling Indy garbage! Coming to the PS4!!!" and I go "hmmmmm........ yeah that blows". Then I feel shafted. Sorry if that's difficult to comprehend for everyone, but again, I'm not the only one who feels that way.
