The Official It Was A Good Call Thread

It was a completely idiotic play call by Martin: You throw the ball to McRae or Richardson and let one of them go to work--guys who are hard to cover and can get a shot off, and probably a pretty good one. That's what you do. That's what 99.999999 percent of the coaches in the history of basketball would have done. But, no, Martin decides to throw it to our center who is 14 feet from the basket, so that he could do what? He's a center! He's not a slashing ball-handler. You throw the ball to Stokes when he is six feet from the basket. I have NO IDEA what Martin was thinking.

Wow...there is a tennessee fan who knows who cost us the game....not the refs

if he contacted the guy in the chest yes but a brush by his shoulder as he was going between the two defenders no, flop all the way. But it worked so it doesn't matter

The ref was staring at Stokes the whole play, like he was wanting to call a charge before it happened. Am I being a homer here? Probably. However, the Michigan defender was falling back well before Stokes could make contact. He sold the charge to a willing buyer of a referee.

You are right though, season is over so it doesn't matter. What does matter is this: We learned that Cuonzo Martin is capable of moving this team forward with limited resources and support. If the university and fan base makes the commitment to support the program, I believe Cuonzo can keep the Vols contending for titles.

I am proud of this team and coaching staff. It was a good run.

He lowered his shoulder. The officiating was bad all the way around. For example, the ball was out on Maymon, still went to Tennessee.

A "Picky Call" no clear cut foul. We lost this game like the year we had a chance to beat Bama and they blocked a field goal. The team that should have won did not win. But I'm over it.

I hope none of you have children in sports and teach them to blame the refs when you get out played or out coached. Learn how to take a loss and move on. Maybe if we didnt let them hit 7 three pointers before we decided to guard them we wouldn't of had to come back from 15 points. Michigan is known for there shooting and Martin was calling defense to defend the paint. We got out coached not out played or loss because of calls. Great effort on the players side

Looked to me like we were in it with a chance before the bad call took that chance away. You can flail away all you want to but it was a block.

You are very ignorant. We defended the three , they just hit everything. Marin coached a great game. They just were hot and got a favorable whistle all game.

Well then man up and thank the refs for making an absolute wrong call on the out of bounce play to even put us in that situation...the refs made bad calls for both teams, get over it. Its part of the game

Dude, we didn't defend the 3. I recall at least 7 open looks in the first half alone, and that's without going back to look. Then they drove past our mismatches. Defense was terrible the first half. And confused.

This post pretty much proves your agenda.

Wow you are absolutely dumb...if letting up 11 three pointers is guarding the 3 then you have no idea about the game of basketball...5 of the 11 were wide open because we played zone all night guarding the paint. Should have been in man to man when there hitting the way they were...a good shooting team destroys zones. That is basic coaching.

Yes but when it's the last wrong call of the game it carries more scrutiny. No chance to recover.

Wait, we played zone all night? U.T. played zone (1-3-1) on 2 possessions all night. You have lost any shred of credibility. It was man to man all night.

Thank you...another fan that knows something about basketball

Yes they had a couple of open looks. It wasn't due to them not knowing to defend the three like the poster said. We were not concentrating on the paint at expense of guarding the three point line like he said.

Yea you are ignorant. We played man to man 90% of the game. We knew to defend the line. Pick and rolls killed us.
