Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XI

I think the coaches are started to hint that the 4 way competition is over - we will start seeing the top 2 getting a lot more reps to try and really identify who "the guy" will be - it will likely start with whoever is #4 getting much fewer reps - then you will start to see 2 emerge - and hopefully going into fall camp we can have a starter

I also think it is too early to give up on Blair at LT - many juco guys have a hard adjustment period - he has the spring/summer and fall camp to get it together and I think he will

Here's my speculation on the QB and Blair position battles:

QB competition was predetermined to be open for the first part of spring to get good evaluations. No official starter was going to be named until closer to the O-W game no matter what happened. The staff has a good idea of who the eventual starter will be, and we've seen evidence of this in the Malone recruitment.

The Blair move is motivational in nature. Gilliam may very well be playing great and Blair may be out of shape, but we'll all be fooling ourselves if Blair isn't the starter from Day 1. This screams like a Butch motivational tactic.

Mosley and Sawyers will see significant PT this fall. The Sawyers pickup was massive.

Sawyers hasn't even made it to campus yet. The Williams pickup looks like the big pickup at DT. Moseley's speed is making it hard to pull him off the field. The coaches have basically given him the other CB spot right now looking to go young and fast. I like it personally. Coleman better look out at nickel he's got players that are better athletes coming for PT.

Dobbs and Ferguson are probably the front runners. They are the two who always make winning plays. Worley and Peterman also don't have the upside those two have.

that was where I was leaning as well but I wasnt sure if I was hoping or thinking - we need 1 of those 2 to step up and realize their potential for us to be really dangerous next year

I know this isn't the Basketball Forum, but it looks like Hubbs dropped some sort of bomb in the WR this morning pertaining to Cuonzo and the coaching situation. Anybody have any insight?

Man getting Sawyers at the last minute was an unbelievable addition. I can't wait to see all these guys together.

Also I think Blair will be fine. But it's great to know that there's somebody like Gilliam behind him putting pressure on him every day. No complacency in orange.

In the WR, it mentioned that some of the donors have cut off access to their private jets for the basketball coaches to use for recruiting trips. Also, other coaches have been using the "Bring Back Bruce" petition against. It has REALLY hurt our basketball recruiting.

Forgive my ignorance, but who the hell is Tosh Lupoi?

Played at Cal in the early 2000s.... Coached there. He was a DL coach. Ace recruiter. He's like Tommy Thigpen on the West Coast. Was at Washington. Pulled in some top recruits. Got in trouble and lost his job at Washington.

Having Lupoi and Kiffin on Bama's staff would be sleezier than ish

Does anyone else realize that our moronic fans may have ruined our BBall program for a few years?

Lol. Germans are some of the most literal people out there. Although I had a German professor at UT who was both literal and funny.
