'15 TN ATH Jauan Jennings (UT commit 4/7/14)

What's the diff in Jennings and Gibson? I hear ppl debating all these QBs. Jennings is just as good an athlete. Their both raw and Torrance is a lefty. Similar size. Almost exact same size actually. Jennings is an elite athlete just like Gibson.

Seems logical to me.

I'm curious why 247 has Gibson rated as the #1 DT QB and a 5* when they rank his "accuracy" passing the football as a 4 out of 10. You would think accuracy would be kind of a big deal when rating a QB. Especially one your claiming to be #1 in the nation at his position.

Wow. I didn't catch that. That's a very good point.

I think it's pretty clear at this point that Gibson is a 5-star athlete, but probably more like a 3-star QB...now, with proper coaching and the right scheme, he could be a Heisman candidate.

What comments have I made that you find to be depressing?

If you focus hard enough, one day you possibly will discover that there can be differences between a negative person and a realistic person.

And just because someone's comments differs from that of your own, that doesn't mean they are being negative or "depressed" in any way.

UT's overall production & results from the QB recruiting efforts the last 5 to 10 years has been extremely underwhelming, to say the least. It certainly has left much to be desired.

I believe most rational UT football fans would agree that UT hasn't landed or started a championship-caliber QB in several years. And that can be directly attributed to sub-par QB recruiting. UT has consistently missed on their top-rated QB targets the last several years and have had to settle on other prospects. That's not depressing, that's fact.

Wow. Well I was being playful with you because you're a poster that I have gotten along with in the past. But don't give me that realist bs because that is a very "poor me" attitude. Things are looking up and if you can't see that, then I can't help you.

His potential ceiling and they did that right after his state championship domination on ESPN.

Hate it but true.

Are you really that annoyed by that?

I said it in jest, but it is a little ridiculous. It's not like he said he was going to commit in late April & then changed it to early May. He literally, in 24 hours time, changed his mind twice, and the difference is considerably night and day.

Will I lose sleep tonight over it? Nope, so you can rest easy.

Ha. :)

Umm no actually go back through and read the thread I'm not the only one who has said he is a project at QB...And I just read Butch's quotes and I do no what I'm talking about...hometown fan boys of players kill me man...act like no one else can have an opinion on their hometown guys...well news flash we can

I don't even know what part of TN he is from, so not a "hometown fanboy". Plus, I never said he isn't a project QB. I said the coaches know what they see and what they want. I trust their opinion of the kid over yours or mine, or anyone else's on this board. I'm not arguing either way on the kid. Just saying that people (like you) will go on and on with an argument when in reality they don't have the inside information to know. You said they were only taking 1 QB and argued that point, then were proven wrong. My question was why state something so emphatically as fact, when it's really just your uninformed opinion?

This kind of debate will never end because it seems nobody is capable of looking at themselves and evaluating the things they say and asking themselves if there is merit to someone else's rebuttal.

I guess you could say I don't have any problems with other people having opinions. It's what a message board is for. But I can't deny that I have a problem with people stating their opinions as fact, as if they have some inside knowledge of what the coaching staff is doing, or that they can evaluate kids better than the coaches. Especially when their opinion has already been disproven and they refuse to see it.

Butch has said numerous times he needs playmakers on defense!! What is JJ not a QB but a playmaker that will play defense...There is a reason why they like Gibson and Gentry more and probably have a few more players as a QB on their recruiting board

Oh, so you have seen their recruiting board? Please tell me the correct order of our interest. I must have missed that little nugget in a CBJ press conference.

Of course it is but my point is Butch does not have time for projects at QB...A few of yall seem to not see that and want the hometown kid to play QB at UT...I understand that but step away and look at other QB's UT is looking at and tell me JJ is being recruited as QB

doesn't have time for project QB's??? Will have a Jr with playing experience and a rSo (whom a lot of people believe will win the job this year) on campus when he gets here. So, by my count, if RF is the guy, JJ will be a rJr when his time is called. I know the "sexy" thing is to have a young cat (J.Winston/Johnny fball) come in and set the world on fire, but that is not realistic. Stability comes from having a kid that is in the system, grow and develop while he learns that system, and then is called on for 2-3 years to contribute. You can't make a living plug-and-playing Fr or rFr quarterbacks. You hit lightning in a bottle occasionally (and I hope RF is that lightning), but you can't rely on it.

Being playful? What? That really has nothing at all to do with my statement or our discussion. And VN is an anonymous internet message board. I'm not sure how one could "get along" or not "get along" with another.

I simply stated that UT hasn't recruited the QB

I was playfully joking about you being depressed and you typed a novel about how sad it is to be a vol fan. That was my point. I didn't remember you being so douchey

My last post had more text than that originally, but I guess it got cut off. It would have made more sense if the entire message would have been included in the post. I never had much luck posting on VN Mobile. Always errors and problems. Oh well.

Again, you are severely misinterpreting my points or simply just enjoy putting words into other's mouths. I'm still very unsure how me stating that UT could possibly miss-out on all the top-QB targets this recruiting cycle because they have notoriously done that the last 5-10 years somehow was understood by you as me having a "douchey, depressing, poor-me attitude" and writing "novels about how sad it is to be a Vol fan".

I don't know. Maybe it is your intention to confuse me by purposefully twisting my posts and I just am not catching on. It has been years since I've consistently posted or closely followed VN.

And I recently finished up my degree studies at a small, private, liberal-arts college so that could possibly be related to why you "don't remember me being so douchey".

Either way, it's time this thread got back to focusing on Jauan Jennings. You can continue "playfully joking" with posters & labeling UT football players as pathetic and I'll just go back to writing my sad, douchey, nega-Vol filled novels detailing the imminent demise of UT football. Deal?

Later Redneck
