University of Tennessee gonna advance further than Memphis State?

Since when did Memphis becoming a measuring stick for UT Basketball?

When Cal left?

Really?

I think you'll enjoy life more if you stop coming to Tennessee boards trying to validate your own program's underachieving state by trying to bring down Tennessee's.

But to each their own.

Bazinga! :dance2:

Son, u never gonna get out of the 13th grade at Tigger High unless u get off VN.

I enjoy my life tremendously. I think I enjoy it so much because I don't wish ill on anyone, and I don't hold grudges or hate on people. One part I particularly like is that I'm able to come over here and talk with another fanbase, objectively (if I'm lucky) about basketball. But I guess this is getting off on abit of a tangent.
I don't belittle Martin or UT's program, and if it seems like that to you, you're probably a giant homer.

I expected more from you, ZJC.

Sad, if true. You'll enjoy your life a lot more if you celebrate your own acheivements instead of wallowing in the misfortune of others.

But to each their own.

When your leadership constantly whine about the necessity of dropping a series that they've been on the losing end of more often than not, then you deserve all the trash talk you get from Tennessee fans.

Our folks were not happy losing out on one of our two regular season games against Kentucky. Even though they have dominated the series, it is not the practice of Tennessee to run and hide from a challenge.

On the football side, we fought to keep the Alabama series. We've been getting killed lately...but it is not the the way of Tennessee to run from a tough fight.

At Tiger High, running from a fight you have trouble winning seems to be common practice.

We don't fear you as you fear us. That yellow streak down your back only serves to encourage our reveling in your misfortune.

You're right. You come on here, make fun of UT fans laughing at Memphis on a Tennessee board, tell us we had an easy draw and basically say without saying Tennessee got lucky, then preach at us saying we should just enjoy our run and that it's sad how we have to gloat about our run to Memphis fans and that UT fans should just enjoy the run.

No trolling or belittling at all, I am sure.

You are not happy about losing the series with UK because it's one of the few chances you get at beating a good team in conference. I'd be pisse if we lost half our games against Cincy or UConn every season.

As it is, UT seems lucky that they're not playing the Tigers recently, as your coach can't seem to get a win against us.

And your speech was great and all, but I haven't forgotten then fact that UT just bought out of a football game against North Carolina only a few years ago. Tell me more about yellow streaks please.

Huh?? UT most certainly DID get lucky by having an easy draw. Are you really going to deny that??? Maybe I'm giving you way, way, way too much credit then.

But this happens every year. UT isn't any less in the Sweet 16 than the other 15 schools because of their draw. I'd love to trade places with UT at the moment, regardless of draw.

I'm just trying to be real with y'all.

While I appreciate your pure heart of virtue, most people don't want to hear from a Memphis fan about keeping it real.

I think a lot of posters here like having objective discussions about basketball, both UT's team and in general. I'm sorry if the more subjective posters here don't like the message.

There is no way you honestly believe what you typed there, and certainly no way you expect us to believe it.

You constantly rag on Martin and UT as it pertains/compares to Memphis, and even if done in defense of Memphis, it still counts.

We destroyed the team that beat Duke. What was easy/lucky about that? You're getting caught up in seed #'s rather than the game that was played on the court. Mercer basically led the Duke game wire to wire and we strangled them from the get go. Who's to say we don't do that to Duke instead? I'm not willing to say either way. You obviously are hinting otherwise though.

For accuracy sake, Mercer didn't lead wire to wire. In fact, they trailed a good portion of the game with some back-and-forth lead changes, and were down 5 with 5 minutes to play. They outscored Duke by 12 in the final 5 minutes though.

You destroyed 14 seed Mercer.

If Duke and Mercer played 20 more times, Duke probably wins 20 of them. At least 19. Maybe you do beat Duke (I picked the winner of the play-in game to make it to the Sweet 16 in my bracket) but Duke is way better than Mercer, and a win isn't a given like it was against Mercer.

Pastner, like Cuonzo, is a young coach. After you've put in 5 years with Pastner, or 3 years with Cuonzo, you don't just up and get rid of them if they're performing adequately.

"Derek Dooley is young. If he makes a bowl...keep him around!!!!! You have to MAKE it work like it's a relationship!!!"

Note I said "basically". They were up early, Duke tied it at half, it was back and forth most of the 2nd half and down the stretch they took control.

I watched the whole game, it wasn't as if Mercer made some miraculous comeback was my point. They were in it the whole game and I'd be interested to see how much of the game they led vs Duke leading. I used the phrase wire to wire loosely.

Ask Duke how "given" a win Mercer turned out to be. I'm not going to insult your intelligence by attempting to convince you that Mercer is some world-beater, but beating them wasn't a given, and your continuous attempt to minimize beating them and qualifying the draw as "luck" is insulting to mine.

It's the freaking tournament, and everyone is ripe and vulnerable. You beat who's in front of you. No luck, no magic, no pixie dust. Just winning.

We're not going to agree on this, I don't think. UT's probability of beating Mercer in any give game is probably 96% becuse of how favorable the matchup is. Duke, probably beats Mercer say, 90% of the time.

Who would be favored in the Duke/UT matchup? I can't say, but it would be a competitive game, unlike the mismatch v. Mercer. I personally think Duke is the type of team that UT would struggle with.
