in Tennessee Vols Football Recruiting

Atlanta, GA.- Westlake star cornerback Ronnie Harris has been pretty busy on the recruiting front. Offers have been coming in at a steady pace in recent weeks, and his interest continues to grow. He’s a slightly undersized cornerback at 5’9″ 170 lbs, but has tons of potential and upside to be a great player. Although he may reside currently on the east coast, he was very open to schools all over the nation, including Oregon. He has recently taken an unofficial visit to Oregon and walked away impressed.

“I went out to Oregon the day after their junior day. I was there on Monday so I was able to see one of their practices. I have never seen anything like that. (regarding Oregon’s practice) The up-tempo fast moving practice was unreal. It was the best practice I have ever been to. I spent a good 30-40 minutes talking to coach Neal about stuff. He was telling me they are still evaluating me which is why they have not offered, but he would be by this spring to look at me in practice. I also met coach Kelly briefly as well, but he was pretty busy with practice and stuff. The facilities were amazing, easily top notch.”

Right now Ronnie admitted he is sitting on 10-11 offers from around the country. He explained the last few that came in and more he’s hoping to get.

“I was just offered by Purdue last week. Louisville offered me two weeks ago. And last night Stanford offered me as well. Kentucky head coach Joker Phillips said that next week he is coming down to see me with an official offer, he has already verbally offered me. I’m hearing from Georgia Tech and LSU real steady right now, but they have not offered yet.”

Ronnie went on to admit that he is hearing from mostly SEC schools at this time. Tennessee is one of those schools that is recruiting Ronnie. In fact the Vols stepped in with an offer several weeks ago. The offer made a big impression on him, and is now one of his top schools.

“I love Tennessee right now, it’s a great school. I talk to the coaches on a regular basis. Coach Dooley is great, I spoke with him on the phone and I was really impressed. I have a top 5 that I don’t have in any order, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Louisville, South Carolina, and Purdue are my early top 5. But I’m still open and not close to making a decision any time soon. Right now I’m just waiting for the coaches to visit, see who wants me the most. I’m trying to find a school with stability and great academics.”

One school that he would like to hear more from is Florida State. He admitted they have not been in contact much but he’s hoping that changes over the spring.

“FSU is another school I want to hear from. They have not been in contact with me yet however. I just love the tradition and the great defenses from the past. I think it is a school with great things to offer.”
