Shon CarsonScranton, SC- Last year the state of South Carolina featured a heavily nationally recruited running back in Marcus Lattimore. At the end of the day, Marcus elected to stay home and play for the home team Gamecocks. This year the state of South Carolina has another premier back that is seeing his national interest rise considerably. Lake City running back Shon Carson is adding offers and doing so from premier schools across the country. The 5’9″ 195 lb back claims he is up to around 9-10 offers right now. Here’s what he had to say about recruiting.

“Well right now I’m doing winter practice for baseball. I think I have 9-10 offers right now, I’m not sure. I know I have offers from Alabama, Clemson, South Carolina, USC, Florida State, East Carolina, UCLA, Tennessee, Duke, and Kentucky. I actually just spoke with the coaches from Tennessee and Southern Cal, Kiffin offered me originally at Tennessee, but called to tell me he’d love to have me at USC. I spoke with coach Dooley at Tennessee and he informed me that Tennessee was going to honor my offer and also they were very interested in me.”

With lots of early attention, Shon mentioned he was certainly in no rush to make a decision. He mentioned that he planned on taking all five official visits during his recruiting cycle. At this point he has been to South Carolina and Clemson for their junior days. He claims, “they were great.”

“I don’t have anymore junior days planned and I don’t think I’ll be taking any more of them. I don’t have any favorites yet, I’m kind of thinking of putting a list together but I haven’t done that yet. I would have to say Clemson is recruiting me the hardest right now. I’ve been hearing from Miami, LSU, and Georgia pretty regularly but they have not offered at this time. I’d really like to hear more from Florida, LSU, and Georgia, learn a little more about them.”

Shon took a very brief moment to break down his game a little, and what he’s looking for in a college.

“I think I’m an all around back. I can catch the ball pretty well out of the backfield. I think I have a pretty good blend of power and speed. This off season I want to learn and improve my blocking for my quarterback. I think that’s important.”

“I’m looking for a school that uses the running back a lot. That is something I will look hard at. I’m also looking for a good education as well.”
