SAN ANTONIO — One of the top-ranked cornerbacks in the country is ready to make his college choice on Saturday. Demetrius Wright (6-1, 195, Corona, CA) has made all of the official visits and poured over his options, leaving only the suspense of which hat he will put on when he makes his declaration at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday (1 PM EST, Alamo Dome, NBC), and has four teams still in the mix to land his commitment.

The choice will come from USC, Tennessee, Arizona, and Washington. Thursday, Wright seemed to already know which one he would choose, but he did talk a bit about what went into the final decision.

“It’s coming down to where I fit in the best,” he said Thursday. “How the school will use me … that will be a big thing as well.”

If one school has the upper hand it might be USC.

“The location will be a factor too,” Wright added. It’s just 50 miles from his high school to the Southern Cal campus.

While matching up against some of the top players in the country in San Antonio, Wright has used the opportunity to test his abilities against some of the nation’s best skill position players.

“I liked it a lot these past few days,” Wright said. “I’m ready to take this experience and use it going to the next level.”

Wright went against the best receivers but had a hard time picking out one who stood out more than the others.

“All the receivers here are top-notch,” he said of a group that includes USC commitment Robert Woods, Trovon Reed (LSU), Nate Askew (Texas A&M), and Ross Apo (BYU).

With so many top prospects in attendance having already announced their college choices, there figures to be a lot of recruiting going at practice, in meetings, and at the team hotel. While Wright hasn’t announced his choice yet, he has been working on some of the other players for the West team as well and he feels he won’t be the only top prospect to announce for the school he will choose on Saturday.

“Yeah, I’ve got a couple of guys on my side,” he remarked. “It’s been a good week.”

It will be a good weekend for whichever school lands the commitment of Wright on national television. That decision is now only a day away.
