in Tennessee Vols Football Recruiting

While many of the nation’s best colleges and trying to land South Carolina’s best 2010 player in Marcus Lattimore Tennessee has already started working on maybe next year’s best running back Shon Carson (Lake City, SC). VolNation.com caught up with Carson to check in on his junior season.

“Right now we are 9-1 and are heading into the playoffs,” says Carson. “I’ve had a good season so far. I have run for 1600 yards and 25 touchdowns so far.”

While Carson is having a fantastic junior season he says people are comparing him to Lattimore and he’s not sure if that’s a proper assessment.

“He is a really good player and people compare me to him but I am not sure if we are exactly the same,” says Carson. “I am a great power back with good speed. I can do it all. I am just my own player and he is his own player.”

While Carson is only a junior the offers have come in early for him.

“Right now I hear from Clemson, Duke, Florida State, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and UCLA,” says Carson. “Those schools have offered and I am close to getting a Miami offer as well.”

While Carson has an offer from the Vols he says he can’t really give any reason why he is interested in the Vols. That may sound bad but that is the same answer to most schools he’s offered from.

“I don’t have any favorites,” says Carson. “I am interested in everyone who is interested in me. I don’t know much about all these schools so I can’t say I have a favorite or I like this school or something. I am totally open.”

So while the Vols have a chance to be a school to make an early impression on this talented running back Carson told VolNation.com what he is looking for.

“I want to see a school that says I can play both football and baseball, a good offense, how they use the running backs in that offense, a good education, good on field and off field football programs, and a community that supports the team,” said Carson.
