When my son was in middle school, the soccer team of the year older than him chanted at a private school, ha ha hee hee we all go to school for free. Silly as that was, it was no worse than that. Yet, the other team's parents squawked about this. So, with this teachable moment there before her ... our principal discontinued the boys soccer program -- for the following year. Ridiculous. Soccer was one of the few things in school that my son could do well at that time. He is growing into a fine young man, and I am proud of him, but it has been a struggle.
