Why would Norvell’s gambling matter?

Even the dumbest of the dumb on this forum can see the difference. Intentionally obtuse i suppose.

A blackjack table or any table in a casino would have zero chance of tempting a player of coach to throw a game or mess with the point spread.

I typed the above sentence super slow and with only my index fingers so the slowest on here could hopefully understand.

I know this is kind of stupid but in this day most people have to realize this is going to come up. Why would you do something that could screw up your career by gambling publicly? Either it's an addiction or Norvell thought that it wouldn't be a big deal which is stupid. The media make a big deal out of everything.

Because it’s an addiction that can ruin your life. And because if he happened to bet on college football, that would be very dangerous.

Fox Sports Knoxville all over that issue this morning.
They are saying that many schools including UT won’t consider Norvell because of a rumored “gambling problem”.

I don’t see this as fair.
As long as he’s not gambling on college football, who cares if he’s at the blackjack tables in Tunica now and then.

Is Norvell's alleged "questionable judgment" any worse than Petrino's known judgment flaws?

Better phrasing than fair would be “doesn’t make sense”.
Is occasional non college sports betting prohibited by the NCAA for coaches?

Helluva tiebreaker if you’re picking between two.

If it's serious, we should be staying away. I thought we were looking for high character guys?

Again as the days roll by I'm more and more surprised that Neal Brown's name isnt getting thrown around on this board like one would expect - we've exhausted our options and now we're talking about taking an OC who scored an 11 on the wonderlic test, a guy who won 25% of his games at Baylor and a 63 year old washed out SEC HC. Brown is a high character guy, has a lot of energy, is a winner and clearly knows how to run a program the right way.

Probably has a hidden heroin addiction (blue font)

Same reason why Sarkisian will likely never get a prime time gig again. Drinking/drug problems and gambling problems are not issues big universities want to deal with. And gambling is actually a bigger red flag than drinking.

Possible gambling addiction vs jerk who sucks at riding motorcycles.

To be fair, Petrino’s issues just weren’t hot female on a motorcycle. It was hot female who used to be a student who was then added to the university payroll on a motorcycle.

That does made it more understandable....seemed like a nice young lady.

Why take the chance? It is too much of another scandal TN does not need. Who knows whether it's true or not. My choice is Brent Venables. Clemson outstanding DC. Look at his outstanding defensive strategies for each game he is involved with. Open the wallets and allow him to be the new HC and allow him to hire his own staff. He could be a legend killer against Saban, Mullen, Jimbo Fisher and Smart. He is the real deal. If we don't get him soon someone else will and he will be another one we have to play against.

Depends on what kind of gambling he's doing. Paying for a little entertainment now and then is no biggie. Obsession would be a problem.
