Full media predictions:

WEST

Alabama
Auburn
Mississippi State
Texas A&M
LSU
Ole Miss
Arkansas

EAST

Georgia
South Carolina
Florida
Missouri
Kentucky
Tennessee
Vanderbilt

There’s not much difference from South Carolina down to Vandy. 2-7 will be a total crapshoot.

Pruitt is actually quite lucky. The bar couldn’t be any lower.
No way this team has 6th in the east talent.

Talent out of high school? No. Talent developed while on campus? Maybe. We'll see what Pruitt and staff have accomplished in 6 months, but Jones and Co. did these kids a disservice, there wasn't a player on the 2017 team who was developed properly.

Here is who everyone drew from the West (preseason ranking). If you subscribe to the theory that the range between 1 and 2 in the East is wider than 2 to 7, this may explain some of the rankings.

USCe - 6th and 4th (Ole Miss and A&M)
UF - 3rd and 5th (MSU and LSU)
Mizzou - 1st and 7th (Bama and Arky)
UT - 1st and 2nd (Bama and Auburn)
UK - 3rd and 4th (MSU and A&M)
Vandy - 6th and 7th (Arky and Ole Miss)

And in the West

MSU draws 3 and 5 (UF and UK)
A&M draws 2 and 5 (USC and UK)
LSU draws 1 and 3 (UGA and UF)
Great point, I think it's clear we have the excrement end of the stick as far as SEC west opponents by any measure this year, even more than usual.

Hate to say it, but I finally agree with you on something.

The only thing I am waiting to see is if some are still wishing we had gotten Chris Petersen, Gary Patterson, or several other guys we never threw big money at (that leaves out Mike Gundy), or if we are damn glad we trusted Fulmer.

With regards to our offensive time of possession last year, you’re right, it was bad. However, it was 28:09 per game, so we possessed the ball right at half of the game on average, and the statistic was badly skewed by the Georgia Tech where GT held the ball 41+ minutes vs our 18+ minutes. Also, we won time of possession by 4 minutes vs Florida but the defense gave up that inexplicable td pass at the end and we lost that game.

Amazingly, we also had more offensive time of possession than Missouri in that 50-17 beatdown loss.

Bottom line, yes, the offense was poor, but the defense was worse imho. They virtually never got off the field early by forcing 3 and outs or forcing a turnover. Teams just lined up and ran it down our throats. The argument can be made that the defense definitely cost us the Kentucky game by not being able to stop Ky on their last drive....they allowed the Wildcats to run it down their throats and score the game-winning TD last.....and obviously after giving us the lead on their previous possession, our offense cane up a yard or two short at the very end of winning the game. Imho, regardless of what the offense did or didn’t do, the defense, especially vs the run, was atrocious.

Dude the defense barely got to breath. Our offense went like 4 games without a single touchdown. Kind of hard for a defense to back that. Also tough on a defense to play that many downs.

Our time of possession was so high because our offense could rarely get a first down and then the other team would score or somehow miraculously we would cause them to either punt or kick a field goal.

Edit: We lost that Florida game because our kickers couldn't hit a dang field goal. Not because Abernathy botched one play. We missed 3 field goals. Last time I checked that's 9 points.

Sounds right based on starters returning and talent. But I think we will be better than that. I’ll be disappointed if we don’t finish at least 6-6 and 4th in the east.

Who will be sixth in the SEC East? Let me say this, I see no reason why it wouldn't be Tennessee.

Based on talent, we're definitely better than Kentucky and Vanderbilt and at least on par with Missouri. Florida and SC might be better but not much better. The SEC East is not a division loaded with talent outside of Georgia. Check the recruiting rankings... Georgia is the only one who has clearly out-recruited Tennessee since the class of 2015.

Our defense was historically bad. If we would have had even a bad defense, we would have beaten UF, UK and SC.
