Has anyone on this board advocated for a completely socialist country or have they been advocating for a combination of capitalism and socialism? Perhaps the answer doesn't lie in the extremes, but maybe there is a way that the richest country on earth can do a better job of taking care of it citizens.

Absolutely it can. It can start by reducing regulation, taxes and entitlements.

Didn't Chavez go to Cuba to get better health care when he was dying? And how did THAT work out for him? Yeah. We have no idea how it works and how good it will be when we have the 'state' paying for everything.
I'm sure since he had control of all of Venezeula's finances, he probably was able to buy whatever he needed.
