'19 TN LB Kane Patterson (Clemson commit)

We did not notice Patterson much during day one of East team practices, but with 7-on-7 being a staple of day two’s events some of the deficiencies in Patterson’s game were highlighted. While even the biggest of linebackers on both squads showed the ability to play in space, Patterson struggled to stay with running backs and slot receivers through their routes. He was noticeably a step slower and left the middle of the field open for plays to be made by the opposition in 7-on-7.

Guess that Woody Wommack midstate bump doesn't help down here. Almost like Pruitt has an eye for these things.

Saw it at the HS games

To be fair, Tyler Byrd and Dillon Bates looked like all world performers. These events don’t carry much weight.

Had Botch not recruited Bates, and he'd gone...well anywhere else he would have been a first round draft choice at another position. Hell if he'd waited for Pruitt he'd have been better.

Hammy ... Botch ... Currie. The trifecta of TN athletic dumbassery.

Butch sucked. That said, that is not Bates' issue. He wouldn't go first round in any football draft.

I am no fan of Butch Jones but I hardly blame him that Bates stayed injured for 3 years.

Patterson and Bates are NOT the same type of LB.
Dillon could absolutely cover RBs and TEs. He was just soft.

This Patterson kid would not play over Crouch, Peterson or Banks! Jmo....

I think Banks has mad potential as a LB, but don't u think u are jumping the gun a little. He's never played a snap at LB in college. Hell, he probably hasn't played a hundred snaps at RB in college. Now compared to Patterson, u may be right, but imo, there is no way to really know right now.

Since niether has played a snap in college at LB. And we're basing it off potential, then no...it is not jumping the gun imo...

We'll find out this spring
