The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

The pledge was written that way so that people could be led to believe that they are declaring allegiance to some benevolent republic rather than the insidious government running it.
Also, since when is pledging allegiance a requirement as a citizen? I must have missed that section of the Constitution.

I'm glad you pointed out that it represents all the people and didn't just single out the military.

But just curious, we have public officials, law enforcement officers and soldiers that make an oath to uphold the Constitution. At what point are we going to hold them accountable for not doing so?

Have you figured out yet that the flag means different things to different people? Have you figured out how when person A protests the the flag for perceived grievances that person B sees the disrespect for what they value?

I'm fully aware of that. That is why when the players said it had nothing to do with the military, that should have calmed the snowflakes down.

Your bold doesn’t match the rest of your post. If you understood the bold, you wouldn’t have typed the rest of your post. You would have understood.

Nah, I think he’s making the point that when players say clearly and repeatedly that it’s not about the military, the “I’m applying my own meaning” approach is exposed for the garbage willful ignorance that it is.

People never say shat just to cover up other shat huh? "I have NEVER hit my wife"!

Hey, I’m applying my own reality where the sky is green, so if anyone says otherwise I’ll argue with them. But you’re not allowed to call that ignorant, I’m just looking at it using my own values

You think they secretly hate the military but are trying to hide it? Lmao

Not what I said. The choice of sitting/kneeling while a uniformed soldier is presenting the colors is disrespecting the military. No matter what they "say".

This crap just makes you look more ignorant that ever.

The Pledge of Allegiance was written by a socialist trying to sell flags to school teachers. At first, the Bellamy solute was given during the pledge but was changed to the hand over the heart after Hitler's rise to power. Hitler, a fan of religious symbols of state worship, appropriated the Bellamy solute. So enjoy the creepy, worshipful pledge of allegence and other shiny trinkets of state worship as the Constitution is ripped to shreds.

What they SAY doesn’t matter. What they DO does.

Actions speak louder than words.

Start a new thread about that. Not the issue here. And, by the way, take that shat with you on the way out.

Whether they meant for it to include the military or not is really not relevant. What is, is that they have successfully shift a supposed focus of social injustice/LEO abuse to the anthem and themselves. They picked the wrong stage if that was their objective.

Na, I think I'll say what I want to say, boss. And it is an issue being discussed since youre not keeping up. Sounds like you're not comfortable with the ugly truth of the pledge.

"Being discussed"........you mean shot the hell out of the water. Carry on Scooter.

Trump uses the Military when it's convenient to him. We know how he feels about captured vets and Gold Star families if they don't agree with him. It's up to the NFL to decide what to do about the protests, but anyone who listened to these athletes know it's not against American flag or veterans.

That said, if NFL won't let Tebow promote God, or others wear Pink for breast cancer, then protesting against police brutality and racism should not be allowed either. Either let everyone use that platform to voice their beliefs or don't. You shouldn't get to pick or choose which ones you like.

Spot on.
But, I will say that Trump had ZERO influence on my thinking of this being a bad way to "protest.
