We just have to face it: this isn't going to be the year we were hoping for. Heupel is a good coach, but some bad luck and some unforseen weaknesses have doomed us to mediocrity. 2022 was an anomaly, pure coincidence, the random convergence of a few exceptionally good players that created one great year in the midst of a mediocre decade. Almost nobody expected Jaylin Hyatt to explode the way he did, and that allowed Hendon Hooker, Bru McCoy, and others to put up insane numbers. But not all players, no matter how talented, can run this up-tempo offense. This won't be Tennessee's year. Better luck next year!

Honestly I just dont think he is ready for live snaps in the SEC. Plus he hurt his wrist and probably set him back a little. That's all I can think of. Heupel may be making a mistake but I think he's earned a little trust so whatever.
