The Everything Fantasy Football Thread

I figured with a new season coming I'd bump this thread back up again so that it might be able to help with people's questions they might have in regard to their drafts and any other questions anyone might have going into the start of their leagues.

Let the 2010 season begin :)

I do have a question:

it looks like I might be in a situation where (I already have Andre johnson and Randy moss) where when my first open pick comes up I might be able to choose between Chad Ochocinco, Steve Smith (CAR), and Wes Welker as a 3rd WR.

Anyone have any suggestions on who I should take of those 3?

I would say Ochocinco. Carolina's QB situation is suspect and who knows what Welker will look like when he returns from his injury. Plus I think T.O. being in Cincy helps Ochocinco.

Yeah I took Ochocinco. T.O. went early and for too much which left me grabbing 85 for a lot less than he is worth.

of those three I would take 85 and worry why I didn't take Welker.

Just found out I'm 12th in line for our 15 team draft. Guess I better start looking at this closer. Finished second last year and had the first pick.

Anyone have a link to a good ranking site? I'm using fftoolbox.com right now.

QB: Aaron Rodgers
RB: Frank Gore
RB: C.J. Spiller
WR: Mike Wallace
WR: Devin Thomas
WR: Joshua Cribbs
TE: Dallas Clark
K: Rob Bironas
Def: Minnesota

Bench
QB: Joe Flacco
RB: Matt Forte
RB: Ricky Williams
TE: Visanthe Shiancoe
WR: Darrius Heyward-Bey
WR: Steve Breaston

I lack star power at WR, but hopefully Cribbs, Spiller & Harvin run back a few punts for me

Just curious, how are playing a 15 team league? Does one team have a bye every week?

I use the free sites pretty much.

I mainly use fftoolbox. After that I like SI fantasy (esp if I'm using it before drafting); Yahoo's fantasy stuff is good in-season but pre-season they don't do much other than articles; NFL.com does a good job ranking their players pre-draft and keeps it up well post-draft; ESPN is worth reading still...but I don't like when they do weekly projections

so pre-draft: fftoolbox, SI, NFL, Yahoo, ESPN

post-draft: fftoolbox, yahoo, NFL, SI, ESPN

never really looks at cbssports

you at least note the problem, you're pretty good everywhere but WR. It's not a safe strategy to bank on WRs returning any Kickoffs for TDs because it's so scattered when it happens during the season and it happens so infrequently, unless for some reason you add return yards the player has to their score

I would start Forte before Spiller if Forte manages to maintain how well he's been doing in the preseason (and Spiller will be splitting pretty heavy)

Perhaps see if you can package (assuming this isn't a keeper league) some of your RBs to trade for a better WR....Spiller/Forte (i'd say spiller) and Ricky Williams, and if need be a WR

unfortunately it's currently a pretty glaring hole as of right now; though it's up to you to either trade or, if you want, ride it out for a while and see how it does

How big's your league and what order did you draft these guys?

Here's the team so far:

QB: Schaub, Romo
RB: Chris Johnson, Beanie Wells, Jerome Harrison
WR: Randy Moss, Andre Johnson
TE: Dallas Clark
DEF: Green Bay

I have picks 4,6,7,8,9,10 open; i pick last in the odd rounds and 1st in the even ones

Sorry to ask this again, but both the available player lineup changed and where I'm picking overall changed :/

So far my first pick in the 4th is the 11th overall (though 1 of those guys has to draft a QB to replace Warner); players available look like this:

WRs: Chad Ochocinco, Steve Smith (CAR), Steve Smith (NYG), Wes Welker, Santana Moss, Malcolm Floyd, Vincent Jackson, Dez Bryant, Braylon Edwards

RBS: Ryan Matthews, Shonn Greene, Jahvid Best, Joseph Addai, Arian Foster, Ahmad Bradshaw, Spiller, Justin Forsett, Felix Jones/Marion Barber

So, realizing i'm more realistically the 10th pick here (that guy is definitely taking Kolb), who should I realistically be looking at / considering drafting here?

In this order

Ryan Mathews
Shonne Greene
Joseph Addai
Steve Smith - Car
Steve Smith - NYG

IMO Matthews scares me because he's a rookie. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesnt. Greene isnt too bad a Rex is getting the Jets around. Addai is in a contract year so he's the safest.

I think Spiller could have a heckuva year. Definitely considering him 2nd or 3rd round. I think he will still be there.

I worry that Jones-Drew will be a bust just because Jacksonville otherwise is crummy.

My own draft last night, 12 teams, not a keeper league. Main picks:

QB Drew Brees adn Eli Manning

RB Spiller, Reggie Bush, Tim Hightower

WRs Miles Austin

If Foster is the big winner this week, i picked up a few bucks for high scorer, not to mention upsetting our ff defending champion.
