The Atlanta Braves Thread

A lot of the Pearl era was fun, but the narrative from last night that he is the Godfather of Tennessee basketball is over the top. Dude nuked the program out of pure ego.

How would the board defend Edey?

I would use all 4 post guys and JJJ at some point Sunday.
Have Estrella break his nose early.

Now a real answer. Don't let the guards get the ball to him, and do your best to push him out and not let him catch it at his spot. When he does catch it have your guards dig down and try to rip it from him when he puts the ball on the floor.
Hit 3 point shots, because they're worth more than his 2's.

It’s hilarious how beloved he is when Jerry Green did 95% of what Pearl did

Recency bias. Jerry Green might be the most underrated figure in the history of UT athletics, but it was 25 years ago and those who to remember him might remember him more for that line about "if the fans don't like how we play, they can go to K-Mart." He also overlapped with some of the best years in the history of the football program.

It is an overstatement to say Pearl is the godfather of Tennessee basketball, but he did kick start interest in basketball among a pretty good portion of our current fanbase (including me). He showed (or reminded) a lot of people that Tennessee could be good at basketball, and he did it at a time when the football program was a black hole and we wanted something to be excited about. That Elite Eight run happened right on the heels of Kiffin leaving.
