The 2022 NBA Thread (Kyrie is still a clown edition)

I’m not sure Embiid and Jokic are worth it.

Yeah, I said it.

If you are talking the supermax, and your goal is a title, I agree. Nuggets have to lock down Jokic forever. They have no choice. It's good for business but it's not good for winning titles. Giannis won his title in the first year of his supermax. Curry might win this year on a supermax. A spotty track record so far with these contracts.

I had Jimmy Butler to get a double/double, at +310, last night. He has the points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists at the half. He ends up with 47 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. So not even one rebound in the 2nd half. That may be my worst bad beat ever, because I had already counted it as a win for over an hour. But, I guess all that matters to Jimmy Buckets is that the Heat got the win, impressive performance, but I wasn't asking for much, one 2nd half rebound is all

Cover your a$$. I like the Warriors in 6, but than and again, I was up $155 a week ago and now I'm down to about $15

Yeah, barring injury, it's hard to see C's winning. The D is elite but not sure they have enough juice or are built defensively to face the Warriors.

I figured out a much better way to hedge...finals MVP. Now I got:

$40 to win $42 on Steph
$5 to win $70 on Klay
$5 to win $70 on Dray
$3 to win $108 on Poole
$2 to win $82 on Wiggins
$1 to win $180 on Looney

Instead of $80 to win $50, I got $56 to win $42 at worst.

Yeah, unless it goes 7, Warriors win and Tatum averages 40 and wins the MVP, anyway. That would be my luck. But I really do like the $5 to win $70 on Klay

If Lebron can't win MVP going absolutely bonkers in 3 different finals*, I can't see it happening for anybody under any circumstances.

*particularly 2015 when they gave it to the guy who "held" Lebron to 36, 13, and 9

I'm just saying that would be my luck on a bet, not yours

He did hurt the guy that was going to get the most reps against Ja and 2nd most reps against Luka, so there's that.

If Dillon improved to just bad offensively, the Warriors lose that series. In Games 1-4, he was 8-35 from the field with 5 4th quarter turnovers in G1 and G4.

But you can tease any semi-close series like this. It's a big if to say the series is different if a BUNCH of plays go different in 2 games. Every series has a guy who didn't show up. D-Lo shot 24-72 (which is virtually what Dillon shot) but I wouldn't call him the Grizz MVP. The Grizz get credit for his misses

Title teams since the decision that weren't the result of players colluding to create a super team:

2011 Mavs
2014 Spurs
2015 Warriors
2019 Raptors (player-driven but not a super team)
2020 Lakers (player-driven but not a super team)
2021 Bucks (super team but not player-driven)

Recent runners up:

2012 Thunder
2013 Spurs
2016 Warriors
2018 Cavs
2020 Heat
2021 Suns

Player-driven super teams continue to underwhelm:
