GO!

D-Line

DE-Kongbo
DT-Vickers
DT-Shy (Kmac if Shy isn't healthy)
DE-Taylor (My pick for breakout player of the year)

LB core

LB1-Kirkland
LB2-Mcdowell

Secondary (kinda worried about the corners)

CB1-Martin (he may gone though )
CB2-Moseley
Nickel-Osborn

One safety will be Kelly Jr. and the other will be Warrior.

McDowell is fat and slow. Daniel Bituli is taking his spot.

And at nickel, it's still gonna be Gaulden. And at safety, if Warrior is gonna beat anyone out it'll be TKjr not Micah Abernathy. Micah was our best safety last season. By a wide margin. He outplayed TKjr who was terrible all season.

If TKjr wants to stay at safety he needs to lose weight and regain the speed and athleticism he had as a freshmen.

i tend to agree, but he's gotta be a lock as a nickel, at worst, right?

long story short, DT and DB are going to be interesting to watch. too interesting for my taste...:eek:lol:

hell, as i keep thinking about it, LB is sitll way too interesing as well. defensive coaches have their work cut out, that's for sure....just on deciding a depth chart.

off season should be interesting for those guys.

DT is an absolute mess.

We haven't been "good " there since 2007..

This.

I don't know why everyone is trying to bench him.

The guy who should be benched is Todd Kelly Jr. That dude was terrible last year.

Abernathy took bad angles all year.

And when he got there he wasn't very physical at work the point of attack.
He has no dog in him...
Very nice kid, but not nearly as good as you think he should be by his physique.

Let Jalen Hurts block him on a long TD run where he could have made the tackle.

Stop the run and make them throw. Play assignment disciplined football on defense, and hope no one on the line gets injured from their lineman cut blocking. On offense be aggressive, score early and often to make them play from behind so they abandon the run.

With all due respect, Stop the running game how? Doubtful Tuttle plays, Kmac will be a ? and doubtful he will be anywhere near 100% if he plays at all.. Picou weighs 270, and your other choices wouldn't be on Bamas 4th team. (except Vickers).. When we sub at DT it will be walk ons in there.. Or true freshmen, Of course people will blame Shoop..

Defense 2 deep (4/3 base)

DE - Kongo/ Phillips
DT - Vickers/ Johnson
DT - McKenzie/ Tuttle
DE - Mixon/ Taylor

WLB - Sapp/ Bituli
MLB - Kirkland/ Jumper
SLB - McDowell/ Berry

CB - Moseley/ Buchanan
FS - Abernathy/ Berry
SS - TK Jr/ Warrior
CB - Martin/ Miller
Nickel - Gaulden/ Osborne

I think that some of the incoming freshman will help out on the Dline and also at DB....

Also I think our best position groups are LB and safety.... out worst will be DT (bc not enough healthy players) and at corner....
If we can get by without injuries then we will
Hv a chance to be decent on defense...

Mixon is off the team and people still putting him in the 2 deep.

Still can't figure how Johnson shows one appearance (Vtech), finished season injured nd didn't get a medical redshirt.

He might still be able to get one. There are come guys on the team listed as sophomores who were redshirting and didn't make a single appearance in a game all season.

DE - Darrell Taylor (RS So.) / Matthew Butler (Fr.)

WLB - Darrin Kirkland Jr. (Jr.) / Quart'e Sapp (RS So.)
MLB - Daniel Bituli (So.) / Colton Jumper (RS Jr.)
SLB - Austin Smith (RS So.) / Cortez McDowell (Sr.)

CB - Emmanuel Moseley (Sr.) / Baylen Buchanan (So.)
FS - Micah Abernathy (Jr.) / Evan Berry (Sr.)

I'd like to see Elliot Berry on the field more at one of the linebacker positions. He was solid last year when given the opportunity to play.

Pretty Solid. But I think Sapp and Phillips start they are our two best Athlete in our front 7. (If they can stay healthy)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I read that Taylor has put on about 10 pounds, and from what little you can see in the practice video a couple of days ago you can tell. That would put him at 6'4, 250ish. I feel like Kongbo has the starting job on one of those ends, and it will be DT and Kphillips fighting for the other spot. Either way, having 3 insanely athletic and strong DEs is a wonderful "problem" to have.

I guess behind them it will be Mykelle Mcdaniel and JaQuain Blakely (worked exclusively with DEs first practice, Austin Smith back to LB). Not pumped about that depth since theyre both on the small side. Hopefully Kmac, Tuttle, Vickers, Johnson, Picou and Bain/Crosby can handle things enough to where we could use Matthew Butler on the outside. He might be lacking the athleticism that the other ends have but he's a 6'4 280 lb beast. Time will tell.

I believe our entire secondary will be improved over last year. We have been bad back there so long it seems we can't imaging improvement. Having a good coach will improve the coverage and some added strength will help with tackling. It is amazing how much improvement can be made with just an attitude adjustment by the coaches.
How could they be any worse. Coach Warren has built some exceptional secondaries. I don't see an exceptional passing team coming at us in the east this year. Ga has potential but they must fix there OL.

I am worried about DT depth. The good news is the backups got some experience and we still have months to condition and lift weights.

If this is the case, then prepare to watch the CB's getting torched again. Can't believe Moseley and Martin are the best options.

No way Tuttle plays against a team most likely to re-injure his leg. I hope he sits.

IMO...it's a mistake to play him at all this year...dude has 2 significant leg injuries in back to back years...I'm afraid if you put him back out there another one will happen...I don't care how good of progress he seems to be making...IMO you redshirt him this year no matter what
