Saudi Arabia

Public transportation. Not worth the hassle of DC traffic when the metro literally stops underneath your office :)

Actually didn't even bring my Fusion up here after the winter recess for the first time, because I never drove it. My dad drives it to the store and back once a week to keep it from getting too cold.

Just so we are clear, Obama had access to the 9/11 report prior to any of us and was aware of SA's role in 9/11.

He still sold them weapons.

Zero integrity. Zero

The government of Saudi Arabia helped implement 9/11?

You have proof of this, I assume?

It's called the 9/11 report. It mentions a captured terrorist (Abu Zubaida) had been in contact with the Saudi Ambassador. It mentions the funding of radical groups by the Saudi government. Obviously, we all knew before the report that nearly every 9/11 hijacker was from SA. Two of the hijackers had been communicating with a Saudi Naval officer. It mentions the Saudi Government as recruiter for Al Quida. The Saudi Government was also funding a mosque known for its radical views through which the hijackers are believed to have laundered money.

Israel Deployed 18 Fighter Jets To Saudi Arabia To "Prevent A Coup": Fars

On the surface, such close ties between the existing Saudi regime and Israel would appear a stretch, although it is far more plausible after this week's WSJ report that when it comes to the Saudi proxy war, Israel and Saudi Arabia had been alligned from the onset of the Syrian conflict, with Israel secretly supplying Syrian rebels near its border with cash as well as food, fuel and medical supplies for years, "a secret engagement in the enemy country’s civil war aimed at carving out a buffer zone populated by friendly forces."

If true, the Fars report would be rather striking because, in addition to other geopolitical implications, Israel and Saudi Arabia do not have formal diplomatic relations.

Saudis only respect western money and arms....nothing else..

Looks like they are staring to make the pivot east. The timing of this decree by King Salman to allow women the right to drive just comes ahead of the House of Saud's first visit with Russia.

Russian Direct Investment Fund, Saudi Partners to Create New Investment Platform

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and its partners from Saudi Arabia will announce creation of a new investment platform in energy sphere during the visit of Saudi King Salman Al Saud to Russia, RDIF CEO Kirill Dmitriev said on Tuesday.

Seems like that the Saudis see the handwriting on the wall with regards to their future and have essentially admitted that the Syrian and Yemeni escapades will be ending soon. How much longer will the Saudis be accepting only USD for oil? Especially when you consider that now they are partnering with Russia (a country that is being sanctioned by the US) on infrastructure and investment deals.

If the past is any indication, the day Saudi accepts other currencies is the day the US comes after the Saudis for supporting al Qaeda and Isis. The petro dollar is one of the only things keeping our currency out of the toilet and it won't last forever.

Why? Russia's military cannot compete with us, Russia doesn't have the money to provide aid so what is the advantage?

The military can't compete but in the age of mutually assured distinction, it may not be that relevant. The US gets to pull a lot of strings (including the ability to sanction at will) due to the dollar being the world's reserve currency. Russia is just trying to get a piece of the action and to stop all oil purchases from going through the US. The Saudis are just keeping their options open and reminding the US that there are other suitors.

They have the technical expertise to assist the KSA with infrastructure projects.

BTW, Russia has little to no external debt, while the US is $20+ trillion and counting in the hole. Who is the more economically stable country? The US would appear to be the country that can't provide financial aid.

The US by far.

The US by far.

How do you figure? Really?
