Potential QB Transfers

Seen too many instances of it not being representative of an average. It doesn’t work and they don’t keep it updated.

Once I saw players in basketball ranked with a composite score higher than any of their other rankings.

So go with the highest ranking regardless of service? :)

Dormady will transfer out. Hopefully he can graduate so he is eligible to play immediately, else he has a red-shirt year he can use to wait at next college. Doesn't make sense for him to stick around.
Gurrantano and McBride will stick around. Gurrantano will most likely be starter next season. Tennessee will take Mike Penix and one other guy in this upcoming class. Adrain Martinez will mostly likely decomit and stay west.

I actually believe Penix ends up at Florida St and we keep Martinez.

The Vols will be entering 2018 with a new coaching staff and a question mark at QB. The future of Dormady, who would be a rising senior, is uncertain after shoulder surgery and his inability to hold onto the position based on performance. Guarantano has shown grit but hasn't exactly locked the position down. Will McBride is undersized and likely not the QB of the future.

Does anyone have any insight on potential graduate transfer QBs that may look at the Vols current situation and a new staff favorably for the 2018 season?

Eason at UGA may want to leave.

If Trevor Lawrence goes to Clemson where he is currently committed then I expect Hunter Johnson to transfer from Clemson and hopefully back to us where he was originally committed this past year.

If Gruden comes, expect Trevor Lawrence to flip back to us which is his favorite team. This kid will start on whatever campus he steps on day 1.

If somehow Gruden is actually our next coach, the first thing he should do is take a trip to Cartersville, Georgia and flip Trevor Lawrence back to where he belongs. That solves our QB problem for the next four years, as well as serves as a shot across the bow of all of college football.

Hell of a first post. Thanks dad.

So you are just assuming we have a new coaching staff next year. Dont know if thats a safe assumption.

I like JG, and he’s taken a beating... and granted... it’s early, but he had not looked like a future super star

I guess Dobbs took some time to grow too, so I’m certainly not writing him off

Also no interest in the transfer market

Fwiw if you based it off stats alone JG has had a better freshman year passing wise than Dobbs, Dobbs better rushing but he also had a way better Oline. JG looked solid vs UK and SoMiss before injury imo. Would love to see what he can do with a decent Oline. Hopefully we can hang onto to Mays and improve the Oline for him

I posted the same thing in another thread yesterday.

I think and hope Dormady transfers. He needs a fresh start in his senior year and he’s not the guy for us. JG is going to be really good. He already has been very accurate and managed the offense well with almost no offensive line play.

FWIW a friend of mine that knows Dormady well told me that Butch told Dormady he would like Dormady to transfer and go with him to his next stop, wherever that might be. 😂

New staff, possible scheme change. He might be a better fit than JG. Never know. Any player thinking transfer might cool the jets and see who comes in first.
