Not sure if this is the best place to put this but since sort of an off-season post . . .. I wanted to see what others think about some football rule changes I think would be appropriate, as follows:

Recruiting - players from colleges, including junior colleges should be transfers and not count against annual high school recruiting numbers, only against the total number.

Transfers - walk on players not on scholarship should be allowed to transfer to any school they want at any time.

Red Shirt Rules - any player who plays less than 9 quarters can automatically get a red shirt. Schools would be limited to a maximum of 8 scholarship red shirt players per year (no limit on non-scholarship players). At the end of each season, each school would report the players they intend to red shirt along with information on games played to the NCAA. Players missing significant time for discipline or academic reasons would not qualify. College may also request waivers for injured players who played more than 8 quarters, subject to NCAA review. Players can only red-shirt one time except in the case of major injury, which the NCAA would review a possible additional red-shirt as is done now.

Personal Fouls - any personal foul that may cause injury, not just targeting, should bring suspension, subject to video review.

Time Outs - if a team has remaining time outs at the end of a half, one time out (only one) can be carried to the next period. This would also include overtime periods.

Time of Games - to reduce the length of games, the game clock would not stop for incomplete passes until the last 3 minutes of each half. Out of bounds plays could also be included.

Just curious about the thoughts of others on these.

Reduce the length of games? That is a bad idea. Why not call 16 holes a round of golf while you're at it?

Pass on the less football idea.
